What movies are you looking forward to? NZFF tie in edition

My annual dose of Russia looks promising - stoked on 'Hard to be a God' being there,
would only have be better if they lined up in the schedule as a double feature with 'Leviathan'.

'Of Horses and Men' is set in "rustic Iceland" and has a promo pic of a guy on a horse that is being mounted by another horse. Sold.

Some interesting music docos, theres the Kathleen Hanna one, the Nick Cave one and the Pulp one shot by Florian Habicht

looks like the link I gave to the Kathleen Hanna one is gone now.... it's pretty good, stuff about Kurt Cobain in there as well if you're into that. viewtopic.php?f=23&t=33520&p=1333940&hilit=kathleen+hanna#p1333940

Keen. Been listening to a bit of Bikini Kill lately too.

Also keen for It Follows.

if it was down, it's up again.

The website was running very slow when I was on there, must've been a traffic issue.

Abel Ferrara directs Gérard Depardieu as that epic power creep Dominique Strauss-Kahn
- reviews have been not so much mixed as completely polarised

I am yet again financially unprepared for the NZIFF so I will only be going to see Enemy so that I can also see Alex and Mugabe's short film Unnatural History. And I will be going to see Jake this week.
I'm not a cool guy anymore.

Lots at NZIFF I want to see, no doubt none of them will play Palmy and I can't be fucked driving back and forth to Wellington this year. But yeah.

It's been over-hyped but that Cliff Curtis film is definitely worth a look. I play chess myself and knew the guy (Genesis Potini) a little, and Curtis's portrayal of him is pretty accurate... not all of the chess scenes ring true (chess tournaments are not held in knockout format, plus none of Gen's students ever won the National Junior Championship) but that's just geeky stuff I suppose.
