Football thread
Re: Football thread
Yeah, they seemed unwilling to go wide in the last third, even after that's where they created all the space by sucking in all the wide defenders. Seemed a little odd.
Gleeson was awful in the Oceania Cup thing and in the Japan/Korea matches, but that's all I've seen of him. Maybe he's better than he showed there. Also not convinced by the hype around Payne, but again, I haven't really seen that much of him.
Egypt looked pretty fucking handy against Brazil. I think they'll be damn tough.

Re: Football thread
O'Keefe had a blinder against Egypt. Good to see the Oly Whites still trying to score at the end of the game. Oddly Smeltz seemed really out of place at times.

A dismal start to the season but at least we are being consistent. Some big wins in the other games. Not good signs for Ryan Nelson and qpr

first match of season though, nelsen didnt even play. reid had a good game by all accounts, will bring that form into world cup qualifiers next month
Re: Football thread
Pretty gutted about our (QPR) start to the season. The next 3 matches are against Chelsea, City, Spurs.
Unlikely to get points from either of those games. We're looking incredibly shaky considering the amount of cash spent on revamping the team.
Defence has been appalling to say the least.

I swear one of the linesmen in the All Whites game last night was either biased or paid off. There were a substantial number of poor calls from him in the first half. In general, the reffing for an 'international' match was appalling.

Re: Football thread
Living in wellington we used to frequent the caketin to watch the phoenix. Last year or two ive been out of the loop but Its high times i got back into it. Anyway, after a rough start to the season, losing 1-0 last week to a ten man side (we were down a few all whites players) were taking on perth tonight at 7pm (Melb time ).
We got the wind, the rain and the phoenix!

Re: Football thread
Anyway, aside from Subcides intelligent input. Itappears two games in its not looking too flash. The only upside from the game last night was the suprisingly cheap pints of cider at the pub
Re: Football thread
SV Babelsberg 03 home game against the BFC nazis coming up in a few weeks. Will attend.

Re: Football thread
I'll confess I've been to a few Phoenix games over the years. The friendly against Boca Juniors was alright. The cake tin was extra frosted that night with the Argies slipping all over the place.
Only really get remotely interested in the sport when the World Cup rolls around. It takes fortitude to enjoy watching manchildren run around pushing & shoving and tugging each other's shirts. Especially at a stadium full of parents passing on their obnoxious yobbo traits to their kids.

Cool snaps dude. I definately miss the action of german gootball. Got caught in the crossfire a few times out front of Millentor. Riot cops removing their badge numbers was pretty alarming but seemed the norm

Re: Football thread
Phoenix were unlucky last night. We played allot stronger than the last two matches. One of our disallowed goalswas a questionable call. We had most of the posession, just slipped in the last few minutes. Krishna squandered a couple real opportunities i feel. But hes a hell of allot better than that twat paul ifil who used to skrew it up for us every match.
Seeing us perform better gives me a bit of hope. Especially since we nearly held off by the head of the table.
Taking on that turncoat Marco Rojas next monday here in melbourne!!

Re: Football thread
Well, unfortunately due to the earthquake the match against Melbourne victory last weekend was postponed. A shame, as the previous two matches have seen Roy the Boy lead us 2-0 ahead both times. Booya. We'll see how we manage Melbourne City this Sunday.

How about that?. 5th place. Were climbing that ladder, turns out that high school coach we hired is proving somewhat of an asset!!
If we take Brisbane Roar this Saturday we will have equal points with their 4th place position.
...also it would be cool if Norty still posted on here, it would be nice if someone else on here actually gave a shit about the phoenix and the A league.
Either way smashing Melbourne Victory 3-0 yesterday was a fucking ripper.

You clearly have no interest in the sport. Why post in the thread? Why not waste your time more constructively, read a news article or have a wank or something.

OI OI, "FUCK OFF IM MILLWALL"
"A football fan reportedly yelled “F**k you, I’m Millwall” as he single-handedly took on the three knife-wielding London terror attackers armed with nothing more than his fists."
