Ah have'nt heard them in ages, yeah they have some cool as shit songs dude.
Im traveling S.E Asia at the moment, found a record Store called Basement records in Kuala Lumpur.
https://www.facebook.com/basementrecordstore/
Its fairly elusive location and I wouldn't of found it if it wasn't for the help of friendly local punks, but it is really neat. Specialises in underground stuff, and has allot of tapes. An amazing collection actually from all over the world, including a bit of Kiwi and a whole heap of aussie shit, the guy Matnor I think his name is, was pretty passionate and rifled around his shop finding shit I would like, rendering me spending too much and now stuck carrying l.p's around for two months. He also has a label. Definately check it out if youre in the neighbourhood.
Anyway, to the point, picked up this L.P while I was there, from Indonesian band No Mans Land. Nothing ground breaking, but still pretty fucking cool. The S.E asian skin scene is pretty passionate, and suprisingly large.
Some Malay oi bands worth giving a hoon...
ACAB
The Official
the BOllocks

'A Touch of Class' by The Ejected is one of my all time favourite Oi albums. Definately captures the sound of punk and Oi in '82. Nothing over complicated, but powerful. A must have and a classic Oi! album
Their next album 'Spirit of Rebellion' followed in 1984. Few good songs for sure but not quite as ballsy. I really like it but it doesnt quite come close to their classic debut album
Heres a track from their new album 'Back from the Dead' 2016. The sound has definately been influenced by more recent skinhead bands, and being released on Randale records it makes sense. Havent had a chance to listen to the other tracks yet, but will definately pick up a copy.

Re: Contemporary OI! that doesn't suck....
Ha it's all over facies at the mo so thought I'd chuck it up here as I'd call it as "contemporary oi that doesn't suck", even if it is from a bunch of Aussies....

This thread might be a good opportunity to get a recommendation or two
Can anyone name one album that is an oi! must-hear? A classic or an underrated gem, doesn't matter. I'm getting around to listening to some solid punk in this area at a glacial pace and rec's are always good.
Just giz one album, not a fuckin list, chur. I'm a lazy cunt. Also, no Cockney Rejects, CockSparrer or The Business. I heard dat shit alreaddy.

Couldnt keep it down to just one....
The ejected - A touch of class
Angelic Upstarts - 2000,0000 Voices
infa Riot - Still out of order
Evil conduct - King of kings
Menace - Singles collection 77-79.
Combat 84/ The last resort - (Death or glory split)
Gobsmakt - You wot!! (nz)
Although you said no Cocksparrer .....try an album called "Two Monkeys".
Its often overlooked and vastly underrated... musically it ventures in a different direction to most their shit. Theres a pretty much stadium rock song in there. Its good.

999 -singles collection
not typically an Oi band. A group of artist types whos music style landed them unintentionally in the Oi! genre.
Its a must have album.

Chur for the recs. I know the kinda stuff you like so ill probably hit up everything. I've listened to half of both those Angelic Upstarts and Ejected albums and I was right into them so theyve been on my list for a while.
Will defs check out that CockSparrer. I've heard fuck all past their 'classic' shit, and as fuckin wicked as it is, it's also super consistent, so itd be good to hear something pretty different.
Reminds me, how fuckin good was that Ejected cover Fernies used to do?

Man I forgot we played that cover, I'm sort of surprised theres no shitty recordings of that on youtube. Was probably one of our better covers, certainly better than Bad Man (remember that time when the bludgers covered that after us and did a way better job).

I think the exact same thing happened with Tentacles when we played that song at a show with The Bludgers at Pinnacle Club.
Yeah, you guys' versions of 'I'm Gonna Get a Gun' and 'Anarchy at Woolworths' were always spot on.

this mainly, some people have told me this or that about Frosty, i dont take it seriously tho, Kyle Chapman once told me he had a photo of Frosty doing a sieg heil and wearing a german army helmet, again, big fuckin whoop-de-do.
from what i gather, some chick uploaded all their stuff, so they probably had fuck all to do with that shit.
i only mentioned it cos i thought the bands mentioned above were apolitical, im not familiar with any of them enough to be certain of that, but im always seeing left-wingers writing off any Oi! band that isnt overtly anti-fascist as right-wing, i think its hypocritical as fuck myself.

Combat 84 though
Re: Contemporary OI! that doesn't suck....
i always get them mixed up with other bands with similar names, like i downloaded a bunch of combat 84 and condemned 88 and probably combat 88 and even condemned 84 ffs cos im totally confused about which band was which now.
oxblood have some definite right-wing lyrics, and nobody moans about that cos they have a black guy in their band.

Infa Riot are a really good band, for me they stand in a similar stance as Blitz, good Oi! with a strong uk82 punk cross over element. Ive read various articles accusing a member having racist ties. This maybe be speculation, this may be true, if its true thats very unfortunate and i will be slightly gutted. Lyrically i haven't noticed anything dodgy and seeeing them live with Cocksparrer and menace also held no suggestion to right-wing bollix. But i also see the euro punk scene likes a bit of a witch hunt so it could be either way.
Evil Conduct definately fall under the category of Grey zone, after living in europe I also notice the Germans biff the word Grey Zone around more often than a man with a tennis ball at a dog park. Ive been to grey zone festivals, one headlined by Mr Symarip, a staunch black musician and the Templars also played with Jenny woo (who is basically shania Twain for skinheads and is terrible btw) . Im not saying.there wernt rightwing fuckwits there, but greyzone involvement doesnt mean the entire political environment was of a fascist nature.
Also all the most recent Evil Conduct sucks.
Last resort have always been open with their patriotism. Their album covers are basically them jerking off over the union jack. Them doing a split with Combat 84 is further condemning. This band cannot escape their rightwing involvement. I like allot of Combat 84 songs. I know theyre dodgy.
I also like some Nwa, they're sexist as shit. Allot of crusties listen to black metal that sings of racial politics not so far from Ian stewarts views.
Yeah i listen to some dodgy music, but im an anti fascist and I know where I stand politically. I also listen to gg allen but dont condone exposing myself to kids.
Obviously when it comes to young kids getting into punk, be wary of lyrical content and what avenues that will take you down. But if your slightly older i dont think a band dictates ones idealogy.
And as far as Gobsmakt goes?? where the fuck are the dodgy ties there? They are a mean as shit band with hit after hit. And although im writing this from hotel room in Bangkok I could definately go for a bbq haystings
