Oh akaxo was making a joke - I must have somehow missed the funny bit or the cue that differentiated it from thoughtless whiny you-mentioned-an-Asian-negatively-so-you-must-automatically-be-racist stupidity. Silly me.

Yes, Dixon's right, I meant Kyle doesn't have the communication skills for the role he's in - have you read his press releases?

Is this just a random list of things you will be incorporating into recipes and things?
I assume the target audience isn't going to know fuck all about cooking, so I'd hope you are going to elaborate on things like "Vinegars and pickles added can lift a dish".
I can't even imagine what I might have done in first year with sage advise like that

To clarify: I have no problem with Asian people, and I welcome their immigration here. I have no problem with Asian people who immigrate here not knowing any English; that's fine. I have no problem with Asian business owners not knowing a word of English; if that works for them it's none of my business. I do however get annoyed with any people in customer service roles who do not have the skills/ability to answer reasonable questions - be that because they don't know enough English (and I'm not for one second suggesting that all Asians can't speak adequate English. Obviously.), because they are mute, because they did too much acid in the '60s and can only say the word 'wibble', or because they are simply too stupid to know the answers. I couldn't give a fuck what their skin colour is, I just want an answer to my reasonable questions about something I'm about to put in my body.
Please feel free to educate me what the racist bit is. Seriously? Because all I'm seeing here is precious you-mentioned-an-Asian-person-negatively-so-you-must-automatically-be-racist logic fail.
Anyway, on the takeaways cooking vege food in oil that's had animal cooked in it thread - randomly I tried Pita Pit tonight as it's new to town, and without prompting when I ordered vegetarian I was offered it be done on the microwave or on the hot-plate and she went out of her way to point out that the hot-plate had just be cleaned and was thus free of animal fats. Nice.

Yeah, I'd apoligise for not finding false accusations of racism funny, but you know, it's not. In fact I find it mildly upsetting.
I note that not a single one of the knee-jerkers above has in any way been able to say what I said was racist. I will genuinely change my mind if it can be explained why my attitude is racist. But yeah, I think they made assumptions from my comments that aren't true.
Bolognaise with gherkins - yum, I indeed do this. Capers as well. Good tip.

Ok, well if it's for uni students I'd still suggest elaborating on/dumbing down some of the language - unsure if I would have had any idea what "Wilt a few chopped up spinach leaves into each meal" meant...or what to do with a statement like "Don’t use more water than necessary when boiling".
Also, it seems like most of these tips are exclusive to vegetarians...just sayin'

Yeah it was a stretch finding enough sauerkraut recipes to fill it with.

Then clearly they're genetically stupid and their gene pool deserves to die out from starvation.

I know, right? You'd almost think this was the tips for vegetarian cooking section of the cookbook being discussed in a vegetarian forum thread. Weird eh.

Yes, the last tip in the "normal" cooking tips section indeed says 'also see the vegetarian tips section' with a big friendly arrow directing them across the page - us vegetarians have to be skillful at propaganda as well as being nice to our dogs.

Yep. All goodTartanperil wrote:dustbinflowers wrote:Amazing treats to wow your friends: fresh dumpling wrappers from Asian groceries (in the fridge next to fresh tofu and noodles). Chop up mushroom, garlic and cabbage finely, mix in a bowl with a glug of soy sauce. Put a small amount on one half of a dumpling square. Wet edges and fold diagonally. Press edges to stick together. These can be deep or shalloy fried or steamed, eaten by themselves or with soup. Play around with fillings- kumara and sundried tomato, or try chopping mock meats. They also freeze well, and win at pot lucks.
Might steal that for a recipe if you're ok with that please?
