Mowing the lawn and irrigation officially makes you an old man.
I do agree with you on The Expanse though, and on the political compass.

When I was a kid I’d often get my dad irrigation bits for Christmas and birthday, now I buy it for myself. Very cats and the cradle or something. Irrigating my hanging baskets has been my true triumph.

Lucy and I went to Rotorua last week, was a good time - luged, hot pooled, geothermaled. Pizzeria imperfetto was the most legit pizza I’ve had in NZ - wood fired, correct ingredients. The only thing I’d critique was that they’d just sold the last bottle of the wine that we wanted.

Oh we also went bush walking with a guide at night - mostly to see glow worms, but we also saw a bunch of wallabies - pests and all but still cool for this city slicker.
Considering it was just Lucy and I with the guide in the bush at night, was also pretty pleased we weren’t murded and he even gave us some hot chocolate that wasn’t drugged.

Definately took Rotorua's beauty for granted at a young age. I remember cussing the town while drinking a box of double browns on the jetty of Lake Tarawera at 17 on my last day of school. That was 14 years ago and i left the next week. I have travelled a lot since then, seen some pretty beautiful spots, but to be honest very rarely do I actually see something that out does Aoteroa.
Maybe some areas of Laos where cliffs meet the Mekong or the hills of Austria are the only times i have been truly blown away.
But still Rotorua has steam shooting out of the gutters a long the lake front and some naturally heated rivers which are pretty exceptional. Although Kerosene creek is a good place to get your car broken into.
All in all I would never live there or suggest to anyone they should but, it is very beautiful.
I did drive through Karangahake Gorge on the way to Waihi in February and it was exceptionally beautiful. Looking forward to visiting again this summer.

7. Stones ginger wine mixed with Krombacher

9. The fact Sub Soc has been quiet lately
10. The affordability of wine in Aussie
11. Jacinda Arden.
12. Scott Morrison doing a Borat impersonation in parliament
13. Drinking wine, listening to Simpsons pod casts and making an Airfix model of a Messerschmitt instead of going to the punk show on Saturday night

Books, books and more books: Have you read these aesthetically valuable reads such as:
Terry Eagleton’s “Ideology of the Aesthetic”
Theodor Adorno’s “Negative dialectics”,
and anything by Marcel Proust or T.S Eliot .

Not having kids. I spent the day installing timber arcs and Scotia in this old victorian weatherboard house today.... the two kids in the house screamed at eachother allday and it was fucking horrible. The parents seemed to accept this as the norm. I got the cash from the job and went straight to the pub and toasted to birth control.

I raise my glass of cocoa to not having kids. Blessed silence. No raisins or peanut butter smeared into every surface. No disappointment when they grow up to become arseholes.
Mostly though, the blessed silence.
