Why this thread? Yeah Cyndi's ok, she was never a punk as such but she's an excellent singer.

Petrol prices.
The fact that petrol prices are something I think about.
The band Fugazi. They've always annoyed me.
Punks who have a beard and a mohawk or equally gross is the boots and shorts combo... it doesnt look cool.

Hes a pompous cunt who tries to pass off belittling people he seems less than him as comedy. He emits arrogance where he assumes to convey comedy.

Billy Joel's Piano Man... what a lyrical disaster. The drink is called "gin and tonic", not "tonic and gin". "When I wore a younger man's clothes"... who says that shit? "I'm sure that I could be a movie star if I could get out of this place" - ditto. And what's wrong with having a career in the navy anyway? Good for Davy I say.

I hate Billy Joel's music almost as much as I hate John Fucking Farnham. Interminable childhood car trips with Billy Joel's greatest hits mean I know all the words and get earwormed by them if I read or hear them.

Blame it all on yourself cause she's always a woman to me.

I like you chick scientist, saying "fuck you" in a punk forum is so edgy.

I actually love Billy joel . He has some bangers. But you are so right, "...davey, who's still in the navy.." is one of the worst lines I've ever heard. It's so fucking cheesy and predictable, it cheapens his whole career.
Every single time I hear that song my skin crawls on that line.

Do you think they actually put "bread " in his "jar"? . The dynamics of that are doubtful. Jars are quite small, unless of course it was a single slice of budget white bread that could be scrunched up into a doughy ball. That's plausible, but aswell as plausible, rather bizarre.

Billy Joel himself was a bit embarrassed about "Piano Man", he said the melody was boring and the lyrics were basically limericks. He's right.

Now Paul is a real estate novelist
Who never had time for a wife
And he's talkin' with Davy,
Who's still in the Navy
And probably will be for life

(gay subtext there)

When people, generally on work sites, use one of the following to adress another person....
Chief
Champ
Big nuts
Boss
Mad rooter
By their actual name but add "o" on the end, "Davo" for instance . (That is particularly Australian)

-o at the end is distinctively Australian, a few of those words like servo and smoko have made their way into NZ English but it isn't a common kiwi habit to add -o to end of everything.

'Bread' is slang for cash.

Best thing about Billy Joel is this clip; they kept putting the lights on the audience who were hesitant to have too much fun, so he threw a fuckin fit:

Didn't miss a beat, what a professional.

Hmm, trivial irritations...

People being overly posi during the current pandemic. If you're managing fine, good for you, but don't gloat. People are dying. Fuck up.

Dont pretend you give a shit about anything except trolling people. Theres a Corona virus thread, take your fraudulent self righteousness there!

Also "Bread" is a colloquial term for currency ???

Can NZ at least boast as a country that we've managed it well? Or would that hurt the feelings of helpless people around the world?

You're right sam. Best stay at home and act self righteous on an outdated blog site. That way, people in a dire situation will know you stand in solidarity with them.

What are you on about? I'm talking about people gloating about doing just dandy while people are dying from the virus, low-income households are suffering even more hardship than usual, health workers (most of whom imo are already underpaid) are having to work on the frontlines dealing with this crisis, etc.

I dont think anyone here is gloating. We are merely entertaining ourselves with whatever resources we have available. Just because we arent acting somber or talking about the matters at hand doesnt mean we don't care. We cant help. So may as well enjoy urself. To assume others dont care is just you being self righteous

Ah, here it is. Dave I teased you about listening to pop punk, I wasn't implying you or anyone on this forum was gloating. The trivial irritation has nothing do do with anyone here.

Babe, you can listen to pop punk on your birthday! Tell ya what, I'll post you a Kitch cd as a belated gift
