General R.I.P. Thread
Re: General R.I.P. Thread
I have had to give up alcohol because I have been feeling faint, dizzy cognitively. So you wont have to endure my drunken rants anymore. I need something else to super-charge my soul. But for now I am relishing my role as a teetotaller.

Punk rock in general. Millenials don't really get it, they're into hip hop. In 1978 you could get beaten up for wearing doc martens and ripped t shirts. Nobody really gives a shit about that anymore, and maybe that's a good thing.

In 2019 you'd be wearing docs and ripped tees on your insta-exclusive traphouse x mumble rap vid release.

Punks not dead bro!.
I remember this tag on the front of this punk house "the H.Q" in the middle of newtown wellington. It said "Punks not dead", and someone wrote beneath it "Nah, it's just gay!"
Which i thought to be quite comical. Classic casual homophobic kiwi slander

He's more like a life support machine, keeping it ticking over in a vegetative state.

It's fairly close to dead in Auckland at least, hardly any new bands. Millennial includes people who arrived on the scene during the golden age of PunkAs though. Gen Z probably gets as much blame for the hip hop.

Re: General R.I.P. Thread
actually I'm quite fond of being in a vegetative state.

Anzac Wallace, got to admire a guy who taught himself to read in prison.
Re: General R.I.P. Thread
This one slipped under my radar. The great Leo De Castro died last month, one of the best singers this country has produced.
Re: General R.I.P. Thread
ok I'm a few months behind... but katherine helmond single handedly made the mediocre "who's the boss" watchable. Total crackup.
Re: General R.I.P. Thread
Nobody wants to acknowledge this guy? really?

I’m over 40 now so I just listen to random post-punk playlists and uncontrollably shit my pants whilst reflecting on my wasted youth.

I am very passionate about pies. I turned vege when I moved to aussie cho their pies are so shit they're not worth eating.
Maketu as always been the best pie. Steak and mushroom.
Why God? First the pirate ship and rainbows end... and now this cruel culinary injustice

Nooooo! A Maketu bacon and egg pie a couple of years ago ( admittedly in a time of great need) is in my top five pies ever.
Uncinia vector. Sandfly victim. Part of the trans agenda to invade men's public toilets...

Have you tried Pie Thief in Footscray? The chef is a kiwi. I guess they're kinda selling Aussie-style pies to Aussies though. I only managed to get there one afternoon and they didn't have much selection left. Had bacon and egg which isn't my usual, but it was ok.

Nah dude . That place and the bar its next door to are massive wankpits . Its for first year sociology students to go to while they brag about howncultured they are, using heaps of jargon relating to how in touch with minority groups they are whilst they actively avoid any of the Ethiopian or Sudanese establishments. That pie shop and bar Josephine cause me such a level of hate I cant even articulate it.
Lol so no, no I have not. I looked at their menu once. Having a thai curry pie as the vegie option infuriates me. Dont just put curry in a pie. That's ludicrous. It's not a pie filling.

Gracious me I miss a good pie. There's actually a cafe around the corner from me (called Hello Good Pie
), but they're like 5 euro with a fucking rocket salad and micro greens served atop an oat milk latte with quinoa sprinkles. So they can fuk of and suck my fucking hands. Paper bag and sauce or gtfo.
Attempted the great pie bake-off at home last winter. Was lazy and bought pre-made pastry, then realised Germans put sugar in their pastry because they only bake sweet pastries. Realised too late. Was a buzzy flavour though. But nope. Will make a new attempt with homemade pastry soon.
Wait, wasn't there a pie thread? Will report back.

Ah fuck I've been caught out by non savoury pastry in Europe before. Bastards. Bit like bakeries in parts of Asia. Get excited about some savoury action and bam, stitched up with sweet sweet deceit.
I'm actually counting down the days till I land in nz. Straight to BP wild bean cafe state highway one, just south of Auckland, why hello delicious delicious pies presented in an over stocked pie warmer. Yes please allow me to consume your inevitable awesomeness.!!!
About ten years ago, punk house in Sandringham, A.k, the fridge was just stocked with pies pulled from the wild bean cafe bins. I lived off dumpstered pies for literally months, ( in order to preserve money for alcohol). I got quite fat, and was very very un healthy. The life of an alcoholic pie consuming kleptomaniac .... not a glorious one. Only surpassed by the time we dumpstered boxes and boxes of sizzler "sausages", me and my dog ate em for breakfast lunch and dinner.
Ergh. Become a punk, eat like shit and pinch cheap wine. That should be the recruitment catch phrase

Paczik from instinct of survival.
Used to live with him in Hamburg for a while. He was one hell of a party animal, and kind of a staunch symbol of punkrock in HH.
