Re: What´s for eats?
So my English mate was telling me back in Hull, there was a pizzeria that made a pizza with baked beans on it. And it was called "skinheads on a raft ". Haha
Firstly. Trust the english, the culinary neanderthals that they are.
Secondly. Good name

I'll allow it. English food is great. Gimme pasties, pies, puds, mushy peas and more.

Had a really good open souvlaki earlier. Spicy chicken with tzatziki and coleslaw.

I love it fresh, it tastes like bubblegum. Having tried it as a savoury dish- nah, do not like.

Ate some in vietnam..not a fan.^^
I put a pizza and some chips in the oven when i got home drunk last night. Woke up on my couch this morning. The house was quite smoky and the chips were black and burnt. Pizza was rock hard. House mates were unchuffed. And i was hungover.
Im still.hungover. 3 bands pulled out of the show were playong tonight. Sigh.
Definate karma for the time i laughed when some fireworks fell over and started shooting at this guy in a wheelchair on guyfawkes 2008

Went out to a local Ethiopian restaraunt in footscray last week night. Awesome food and cheap beers. Their vege curries are quite nice. I probably go there once a month. Lastnight a massive brawl broke out in the middle of the restaraunt. It made its way out onto the street. Two african mana wahines punching on old school. Dinner and a show. Was mean as

Meth was definately involved. Footscray is good for both exotic food, and hard drugs

Last time I was in Melbourne I stayed with a friend in Footscray, awesome place.
Will be back there in a couple of weeks to go to the garden show on the way to Tasmania, where I will spend ten days plant-nerding my heart out. And drinking.
Oh yeah, this threads about Food . Melbourne has great food- that was where I was going with that..

Taken to stumbling into the local market garden at 7 am on a Saturday after a night of heavy drinking and buying seasonal fruit and veges. Beetroot is pretty good right now if you want to try your hand at borsch.

Re: What´s for eats?
So i was eating vegie sushi in Broadie mall, in an outer melbourne suburb where i go to trade school. The sushi was sub par, and I was bored, I wrote this little ditty as i ate ( i dont socialise with my class mates much so i have a lot of time to muck around between class).
Yeah i write poetry ( don't tell any one or my reputation as a blue collared lout will be tarnished), also im aware this isn't a poetry thread, but its food related.
"Broadie mall"
"Plastic marble coloured chairs blend synthetically into the inaudible buzz,
The chairs scrape vividly on the neutral greasy tiles,
Everything glows with a cheap sheen.
People float around me, excitedly hugging bright red trays full of oiled glumps of texture.
The fastfood joint emits oily aromas ,
Conflicted by some diluted randition of an oriental dish being fried next door.
Kids screech in between mouthfulls of fried potatoes and sipping sugary crap from a straw.
What glee they exclaim, the euphoric state of an adolescence bought for $4.99.
Artificial light pours down upon the food court,
Illuminating grey faces of those lunching in a mall mid day,
Mid day, mid week in the middle of a suburban sprawl.
Mid meal, mid regret.
Theres a lot of people flurrying about. No-one makes eye contact.
Im glad. I want to be left alone.
Strange to achieve genuine isolation in the middle of hundreds of people,
Illuminated by the artificial light"

You’ve caught the simultaneous bleakness and brightness of a mall food court nicely
