Couldn't help but notice the giant rack of spoons in the kitchen Pert. Got like three of those full in dad's garage sitting there since nana went down in 98. All kinds of spoons. The things people collect aye.

Yeah bro, I got my grandparents after my Grandad went a few years back. I've just put the best ones up, but have a bunch more. Need to get the silvo out and give them a good polish.

I've thought for a while that band spoons would be an excellent idea. At the very least for the alt country bands, but I'm sure metal folk would buy a slayer logo or flying V spoon.

Wow lovely looking place. Will have to get around to putting some pics of our place up. Much rougher, but has potential...

I expect you will be putting together a dope as veggie garden!

Where in Mangere Bridge is yours pert? We've been looking at getting another place and over there is one of the options. Where's the good and bad parts? How do you get into the city on public transport from there? Noticed that heaps of places are now listed with a price rather than auction which is interesting.

I posted a photo on my FB pert.

Apart from some selected suburbs, many of the auction properties have been passed in (highest bid did not meet reserve) since the LVR changes.
With less confidence in the auction market, some owners who are not in a hurry to sell are opting for negotiations again (less costs).

However many of the properties with price listed have already been through auction and failed to sell. Some sellers have unrealistic expectations.
I was the highest bidder on a property in Mt Roskill (just off Dominion Rd) in mid November, and it is still vacant and on the market.

the shelving set up for the LPs makes me nervous. i'd have vertical dividers every 50cm or so to avoid risking damage to the covers from the pressure of that many leaning together.

my wife is likely to inherit a substantial spoon collection at some point so good to see we're not the only ones...

Yeah the bookshelf isn't ideal for record storage, but there hasn't been any damage yet. My dad's a cabinet maker, and I drew up some plans for a record cabinet a while back, so am hoping that buying my first home will warrant him getting around to building it.

We're on Miller Road, which is just south of the mountain. Where we are isn't bad at all, but North of the mountain is a bit more desirable as it is closer to the shops and further from Mangere (which is considered a bit rough by some). But north of the mountain is fairly expensive now ($650K+ for a 2-3 bedroom).

The whole of Mangere bridge has a kind of beach town vibe to it, pretty streets, and a relaxed feel to it. Has a few good cafés.

custom made sounds great, finding suitable shelving for LPs isn't easy otherwise. i've been using these things from the warehouse. each box is sold separately which i like as you can arrange them in any way that suits and expand storage space as needed. assuming they keep selling them of course. they have holes and bits of dowel to slot them together so they're not just sitting on top of each other.

Looking good.
One of my flatmates/tenants is turning out to be a bit of a nutcase, so I'm probably going to just leave her room empty once she moves on because I'm so sick of dealing with people.
Goodbye income though :/

I always wanted a nespresso just because I like tech and I like coffee (even though I already have an espresso machine), but reading all the stuff on facebook about how the capsules are really bad for the environment kinda bummed me out.

We take ours to the shop in Newmarket for recycling - http://www.nespresso.com/ecolaboration/nz/en/index.html

I really like the coffee, and its super easy to use and fast. I kinda want to get a stovetop for weekends when I have more time, but during the week convenience rules.
