Take this test so I can analyse you

Postby nicola_yeah » Wed Mar 27, 2013 1:36 pm

What is your personality type.
It is freakishly accurate.

I did the whole thing, got to the results, saw that they spelled extrovert wrong and closed the tab.

You have a preference for accuracy over bullshit.

How do you spell extrovert or extravert?
Answer:
Both are correct.
[Edit]
The term "extraversion" (and therefore "extravert") was first used (and possibly coined) by Carl Jung (along with "introversion") in 1913 but over the years the technically incorrect alternative spelling "extroversion" has become widely used.

It told me I was quite introverted, which came as a total surprise after spending the last month in my room!! Also that I have feelings and stuff :?

"[C17: from extro- (variant of extra- , contrasting with intro- ) + -version, from Latin vertere to turn]"

You certainly don't spell it intraversion. Extro is correct as per the Greek from which it's based.

Linguistics is a bitch.

Yes it is. Just because a word might look to have a Greek root (or any other) doesn't mean it does.

Both are ok.

Or maybe we should say intronet?
I think it's lint.

No, you missed my point completely.
It does have a latin root (extrapolated from the Greek, you state it has no root). It says right there in my post where the word comes from.
The point is that if we used intraversion, then extraversion would be correct.
We use intro and extro in this instance, not necessarily all words which use this prefix.
This is entry level reading comprehension.

I don't state that at all.

They're essentially synonymous. No need to get all hot under the collar over it.
I think it's lint.

This is the kind of industrial psychology pseudo-scientific management wank fuckery that I find to be personally invasive, insulting time wasting bullshit in the work place. I was subjected to some of it last year. Stupid gushing cow came in to do a course. She was one of those givers of unwanted hugs who invades your personal space and thinks they can make everybody be best mates by putting them on the spot and asking them violatingly intimate questions. When she asked me if I'd ever been in love I told her,

"Yes. So many times I feel cold and dead inside. All that's left are scars and memories."

It was worth it for the look on her face. She actively avoided directly dealing with me for the next two days.

*Yeah, thought as much. Myers-Briggs. Pretty much some of Jung's idea's grossly over-simplified. I'd say somewhat misrepresented too and also not recognised by proper psychologists, only arsehole middle management types who probably listen to Mp3s of rain falling in the jungle in their sports utility vehicles. Cunts.

Government departments love this crap- "How engaged are you?"

I generally make a point of not doing them, but recently have been throwing my complete disengagement with my job in there to fuck with their bellcurve, since I'm about to give notice and leave in September.

Kind of fun

Yeah I had to fill those in every few weeks where I work too.

"Do you feel you have the time required to complete your tasks?"

"No, because I'm filling in these surveys every 2nd week."

The best one was "do you have a best friend at work?"...
