You sound like a friend I was recently talking to. I like the idea of installing a light tram railway on Queen Street and emphasis pedestrian areas there. If I had it my way I would turn the whole of Queen Street into a pedestrian zone. I looked at one of the reports and it mentioned poor cycling support. This is one of the suckie things about NZ I probably should've mentioned but awesome if they address it. It sounds like this country has the right tracks but whether it's capable of co-ordinating any action is another question. It's the countries incapabilities which boggles the mind.

Yes. No idea, my job isn't office based so don't even have access to the intranet.

Expense is all relative. In regards to the original post, data charges here are much higher here compared to the rest of the world. This is due mainly to our geographical isolation meaning we have only one cable linking us to the rest of the world where most of the internet is stored. It's not unusual for large companies to spend well over 50% of their telco accounts on data per month, I'm talking accounts over $1million here.
