Swimming holes/things to jump off into water

Postby Red_switch » Sun Dec 04, 2011 12:12 pm

Ok so shit is getting ridiculous here, it's like a fuckin heatwave. Mowing the lawns yesterday was a serious undertaking in the relentless heat, and I think I lost about 4 kilo's walking home in the early hours of this morning. The solution to this oppressive solar onslaught seems to be to immerse ones self in the purest waters that can be found.

So uh, where are the swimming holes at? Bonus points for those with sweet as rocks/cliffs/bridges for jumping. I'd love to hear of any near Dunedin that aren't typically infested with high school kids having the best day of their life, but I'm sure a national inventory would be of use to at least some people?
I think it's lint.

Fuck all I can think of near Dunedin unless you are keen on contending with the stoked bros and/or giardia. Rivers are probably pretty low at the moment too?

Avoid Outram Glen unless you are keen on jock cunts and pulling SICK SKIDS.

I know nothing in the south but we made a rope swing at Bethells on Friday. Kind of scary at first because there are plenty of logs at the bottom of the cliff and if you let go too early you will get fucked up. But its all good other than that.

There's a few good beaches around if you're into swimming in the sea.

I think there might be a thread from about a year ago with heaps of places suggested (round the whole country) if anyone remembers, no idea what it would've been called

Hamurana spring/river at the far side of Lake Rotorua is beautiful, pure and cold as fuck, 5 seconds in that sucker will shove hypothermia right up your ass. Low chance of douchebags although you get the local kids bombing from the bridge which is entertaining
