Skateboard Thread

Postby wassup rockers » Sun Oct 25, 2009 12:39 pm

im sure this is already a thread but fuckit. show your setups, discuss good skate spots, bomb spots, parks etc.

bought an element complete set up (was lazy and my old board was fucked left right and centre) yesterday from cheap skates takapuna, 219$ish and spent 30bucks on a Pig skate tool with heaps of features (3/8" socket, 1/2" socket, 9/16" socket, self aligning, threader, phillips, allens)
didnt really care about the graphics cause it usually gets fucked up and wanted something a bit simple anyway
Image

general cheapskates 52mm wheels and bearings and trucks..
Image

not the best board i've ever had but it does the trick(s)

just loosened the trucks a little bit and took it down round devo for a cruise felt real good, always is with a new board..

i wanted to buy a girl board like one of these but couldn't find any and im too much of an impulse buyer to shop around haha

turn your wheels inside out or at least scuff the graphics off with the left over grip tape.

Just found this vid after watching the previous one. Looks like the dude is having so much more fun than a lot of modern skate vids;

I really ought to learn to drop in, Grey Lynn mini looks fun. Haven't skated since I concussed myself coming home from 519 one night...

I haven't listened to the audio (gf is asleep) but this seems like a decent video to watch about powerslides;

Reckon I might go give it a try tomorrow.

Man this thread made me want to go for a skate. Might have to get the old board out of the cupboard, especially since summer is on the way.

Grey Lynn's a good place to learn to drop in, pretty mellow and it's wood so not to bad when you bail. Devonport park has some smallish ramps and is good as well but it's concrete so not as forgiving. Powerslides are fun on the ramp too, but don't atempt with grippy wheels.

My set up is...

A Empire Blank

Thunders.

Ricta wheels.

Cheap bearings.

Some hardware.

Some grip.

This is amazing...

Fuck, Pocket Pistols graphics are awesome.

My setup:
Red Kross Duane Peters deck
Skull Skates wheels
fairly wide trucks w/ mixed parts - some Destructo bits, red Doh-Dohs

My deck is getting pretty old and tired though. I want one of these:
