Yeah. Even better, call them and it gets done a lot faster and easier.

Better to go through IRD's website.
If you go through taxrefunds.co.nz and find out you actually owe IRD, they're obliged to inform them.
If you do it yourself through the IRD's website and find you owe them money you can back out and decide if you tell them or not.

yeah ird site is sweet, set up an account, check out your summary of earnings, chuck the numbers up in the calculator, if it says they owe you money request a personal tax summary, if it says you owe them shit, keep quiet

that tax refund site takes a cut from your shit too doesnt it?

oh stink. this is all i could find on their site
Q. What happens if I owe the IRD money?

A. TaxRefunds.co.nz provides a free estimate of a refund for each applicable tax year, if you are not due a refund in a particular financial year, or your tax return has previously been processed for that year, you do not have to file for that year.

tax refunds or any of those other websites take a cut and you sign all your tax deals over to them for the next 5 years or something.

pretty much a scam considering you can do it yourself for free and get more than you otherwise would with one of those sites . . .

Thats Kind of the whole Idea if you hadn't realized ...

I think it's like 12.5% of your rebate up to a certain threshold and they don't charge if you lose money or come out balanced.

but whatever. theres no permanent sign up period.
