Thought I had better give this a go. It's ok, I'm not really a fan of period drama. I find the astrology stuff with each chapter shortening by half pretty gimmicky. Although it does mean the pace is picking up.

Sapiens - A Brief History of Humankind

Nearly at the end of this.

Quite enjoy his ultra rational approach to every topic. He does a good job of pointing out how every political/ethical standpoint is based on 100% mythical ideas - Reminded me of American Gods.

Reading Bold As Love by Gwyneth Jones.
It's about the UK dissolving into independent states, the revolution and social upheaval that happens, and a bunch of musicians on the summer festival circuit who get caught up in it and and up having a hand in the whole thing. I'm really liking it.

http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/180240.Just_Sex_

The past two decades have witnessed a significant shift in how rape is understood in Western societies. This shift in perception has revealed the startling frequency of occurrences of date rape, obscuring the divide between rape and what was once just sex. Just Sex? combines an overview of the existing literature with an analysis of recent research to examine the psychological and cultural implications of this new epidemic. The result is the conclusion that feminist theory on sexual victimisation has gone both too far and not far enough. The reader is presented with a challenging and original perspective on the issues of rape, sex and the body, incorporating subjects including:
* rape as a social problem
* the social constructionism of sex, subjectivity and the body
* heterosexuality under the microscope
This book succeeds in making a valuable contribution to feminist and social contructionist work on rape that will be of interest to those studying psychology, gender studies, cultural studies and sociology.

Anti-capitalist and pro-vegan with a PunkAs connection and a feminist streak. Will be just a barrel of fun ticking off the predictions in this book as they come true. Such as 4th & 5th term National governments. Image

Been chipping away at this for aaaages in between "work" reading:
Image

Pretty good, does a good job of rationalising a lot of the thoughts I have, but can't really be fucked giving much more thought on my own.

As with most decent, insightful, works that could provide thinking people with a decent framework for the future, probably no one who should read it will, and most people who do will probably just find themselves nodding in depressed agreement.
I think it's lint.

Just read Shantaram and enjoyed it, but deliberately avoided searching online about how much of it is fact or fiction until afterwards. Bit fucked that the author's blurb on the back claims he really did establish the slum clinic, and even that's called out as bullshit:
