My grandfather raised chinchillas for their fur. I thought they were cute and begged him to let me help tend the chinchillas - I was five.

While his back was turned I took a chinchilla out of it's hutch to pet it, and I tried to rub my cheek against the fur. That little bastard bit into my ear and I screamed bloody murder. My grandfather turned and instinctively tried to knock the animal off my shoulder, but he missed and hit my head. He tried a few more times as the chinchilla flapped up and down, firmly attached to an earlobe that was now only tenuously attached to me. I thought Grampa was slapping me as punishment for taking the dam rat out of it's cage, - come to think of it, he probably was - so I ran from him.

Ever since then, if I ever see anything made with chinchilla fur I think "Serves you right you little bastard..."
