moving to ak, need some knowledge

so me and a friend are moving to auckland in four weeks and are looking for houses to rent. we need to live near town, but don't really know what suburbs are the ones close to town (ie within 20 min walk or so) except for arch hill.

any help would be appreciated :)

arch hill, kingsland, eden terrace, newton, grey lynn, freemans bay, parnell, freemans bay, st mary's bay, ponsonby, newmarket

cheap places will be far and few between in those places though

the start of sandringham road area is pretty sweet. not quite walkable, but catching bus from kingsland is sweet. my house was in that grey area of kingsland/sandringham/morningside/st lukes. AROHA AVE FTW
