I am friends with sammy and lenny, and for those who dont believe that I have changed I figure these are some people that might be able to vouch for me as they know me quite well, And I have heard them talk of adventures and with respect about gwilym, and as the orchestrator of this thread I thought I could send him in the right direction to get the answers he seems to be after.

Yes that would work, especially coz all the anarchists around here put forward very convincing and coherent arguments.

We never said anything about anarchists. It is just that I am asking, for YOU, and pretty much only you, to put thought into your world views.Base them on logic. Thanks, you retard.

Wow, congratualtionments. You've fully converted me to your point of view.

Now a Sicinius or a Jared.com who can actually articulate things that I may spasmatically disagree with leading me into mockery and flipness, they entirely failed to convince me.

But you, oh you, pointed out with almost Taoist simplicity that a certain ideology that I may or may not vaguely subscribe to, in fact sucks balls.

Granted I don't usually bother to put up a decent argument either, but I'm a writer/spoken word guy and as an artist of sorts am officially allowed to disregard such things.

But I gathered you were a lawyer.

If I ever get done for some or other crime against common decency and rabbits, could you please defend me in court?

It'd be brilliant.

You'd keep me out of jail no worries.

I've always thought anarchism was a bit silly. It's just that I subscribe to a more hobbesian school of thought when it comes to how I predict humans would behave in a lawless environment.

Well...if we were to wake up one morning and suddenly end all Government at least.

Which is ironic considering most people don't so much follow the law as follow social constraints on what they can do anyway.

Ie, speeding/smoking dope etc are pretty much fine, unless you get caught.

Same thing in Hobbes' case really isn't it? The "state of war" vs "state of nature" is Locke's thingee.

I've always thought that capitalism and political parties demanding that ppl obey them, are extremely silly.

Looked at from that viewpoint, anarchism is quite a sensible option. Otherwise we are left with power-crazy fuckers telling us what to do, meantime getting bribes from capitalists.

Don't think Taito Field is the ONLY corrupt politico. He's just the only one to be outed. And he escaped scot free - how about that! Shows how much the system sucks.

I thought they were both about that, cept Hobbes had a much bleaker view of human nature. Locke's christianity influenced him. I might be wrong of course. That was around 9 years ago..I have leviathan sitting on my book shelf in an attempt to look intelligent. Just like now....

Anyway Machiavelli is the man.

And Dirty Dancing Dave...you are of course right re human behaviour in a lawless environment. Humans are essentially selfish. Anarchism won't cure that. Yes some people do argue that it can be in our interests to be charitable, selfless etc, but all it takes is for a few people to be selfish for this to be ruined and for our selflessness to be replaced by self interest. Why would you wait for someone to stomp all over you?

I'm interested by this comment. What exactly do you mean? That laws are a stupid idea? You do realise that 'law' still exists within anarchism don't you? Just as it does in communism? Just as there are rules that seem to exist on this forum?

I for one would not like to be left to the mercy of the lowest common denominator and I'm quite happy to give up some of my 'rights' and 'freedoms' for that to happen. For the greater good if you will.
