Fixed my apartment mortgage for 3 years at 6.25% back in Sept. Looks like it's going to pay off as floating rates have just about reached that already.

I've got some on revolving credit and 1 year, but most of it is on 2 years fixed at 5.54%.
The rate on my revolving credit has just exceeded the 2 year fixed rate. I did consider whether to put most of it on 3 years, maybe I should have.

I noticed that a number of banks are now offering 6.25% fixed for 3 years.
So this rate would have been considered quite high last year. Is the interest rate higher when using an apartment as security?

No, apartment and house rates are the same. I'm just with ANZ, go figure...

Flatmates decided to get pregnant and move out while I'm away from home for 3 months. Trying to remotely fill some rooms so that I don't destroy myself paying rent for a place I'm not even living in at the moment.
Downsides of property, straight up.

I forgot about this fine thread. I bought a house in July, an 1860s cottage in Port Chalmers. It's only the borer holding hands keeping the place together... :)

All I remembered of the thread was Akaxo poo-pooing my old book/record shelf so thought I’d let you all know I had improved the situation

Congrats on buying a place!

Poo-pooing is a term that needs to be used more often.

Presumably they hang their Third Reich paintings facing the wall too and just look at the back of the canvas.

I'd quite like the shelves though. My place has no storage. People in the 1860s obviously had no stuff, or lived out of banana boxes ..
