Turbonegro - Sexual Harassment

Postby Drax » Wed Mar 13, 2013 6:36 pm

Put off checking this out since I wasn't impressed with the the single when it came out. Finally got round to listening to it the other day and I reckon it sucks. Sounds like a forgettable Turbonegro tribute band with top-end production. Lacks attitude and ballsiness, don't dig them having a singer with an English accent, fuckin thing just sounds like one long, average song.

Thought Retox was a bit shit and this is worse. The music is as contrived and predictable as ever.

I only listened a handful of times but I liked it, a few bangers here and there. I thought it was better than the lion's share of their post-reunion stuff with Hank, anyway.

Yeah? I'll probably give it another go at some point but on first listen absolutely nothing stood out.

The music videos suck too.

Yeah, miles ahead of Retox. Thought it was more a return to form.

i never really liked this group, some good songs and all, but probably the most overrated band since the beatles.

i guess the whole faux-gay shock shtick just put me off, its good music and all, dont get me wrong, better than plenty of stuff, but i dunno, just aint my thang.

I quite like a lot of the earlier shit before they developed the fauxmo and denim schtick. Never is Forever feels like an underrated record, probably cause the two studio albums that came after it were so fucking great. The stuff with Harald singing also definitely has its gems. It's more primitive, there arent guitar solos everywhere and I reckon it's got more of a murky black humour to it. Moron shit like The Dudesons/CKY probably has a lot to with their poppiest stuff being the most well know. But they made a bunch of money out of a retarded, running joke so I don't care.

If Retox kinda tickled your arsehole with a feather, Sexual Harassment grabs you by the balls and fucks you properly.

Songs sounded fucking amazing live too, they played most of the album and even the old shit sounded good.

Tony Sylvester is an evolution, not a replacement.

Caught them again last month, Tony has so much more stz on stage now he's really got confidence and it shows.

Busting out heaps more older shit in their set too which is awesome.

Stoked for that girl, Tony's awesome. One of the editors of GQ style too. Every girl's crazy 'bout a sharp dressed man.
