Come on, I was there and it was nothing like that. They had a blanket policy of "no swastikas" at the jetset to make things easier for the bar staff, and politely asked him if could wear another t shirt (it was a giant swazi crossed out). He had a giant tantrum over it and walked out for an hour or something, the bar staff rolled their eyes and said whatever, he could wear what he liked. I can't remember if he wore it or not, maybe he didn't bother playing at all?
stop making it sound so boring.

didn't make them kick dave out the same night for wearing a short sleeved shirt so his tats were visible now did it? and i tried getting them to :)

Actually I'd probably be mildly pissed too if I was refused entry to a no-nazis-please gig because I was wearing anti-nazi stuff.
Not sure if the lols at bar staff who can't tell the difference would make up for it either

Do you not get it? It had nothing to do with banning nazis, it was about making sure noone could kick up a fuss about their swazi t shirt, because it was a blanket ban on ALL SWAZIS even if they were under a crossed out sign. It wasn't a no nazis please gig, it was a "keep your nazi shit out of the bar so we don't have to worry about it". It's bloody christchurch, I don't think any other city even has to worry about it. The bar staff there were awesome, always supporting gigs and shit, so I really don't think the fact that they wanted one less headache was a big deal. They even let Mike Puke play there once to 14 people, as I pointed out. Yes, 14 people, that's probably the lowest turn out for a gig I've ever seen in Christchurch. 14. FOURTEEN.

In the end they said it was fine, but Mike Puke had already tantrumed out by then and didn't want to come back if I remember rightly.

bit strange that description of Iron Cross etc. For instance what about the band Iron Cross who Neil from Gripper knows them they aint Nazis actually Jewish Skinheads who drink a lot. Im sure they would be happy if you told them that and you didnt mind your head kicked in after. Lemmy from Motorhead wears a Iron Cross, same with Slayer use it on tshirts/artwork, then again I forgot Tom Araya looks really ARYAN. Both sides used the same shaped Cross. I always thought it meant bravery in war?? Hardcase tho about the barstaff at Jetset and sounds like a good gig was Phil banned from this one as well??

Yeah, fuck, if there's one thing idiot nazi skins seem to be good at, its misappropriating, well, pretty much everything. Incidentally I noticed an iron cross flag hanging in the window of a dead-shit nazi dork house in invers over the weekend.
I think it's lint.

The German army also still use the Iron Cross as a symbol on tanks/planes etc. although it's no longer handed out as a medal. Was first handed out as a Prussian medal in 1813 during the German "wars of liberation" against Napoleon.

But then you can argue the same for Swastikas too. Pretty much everything the Nazis used had some sort of pre-Nazi meaning to it.

Good times all round. This is a little bit after the fact, and, lets face it, i was off my nut all weekend, but i'll give it a go. Cosyoulikethatdontcha? Youlikegivingitagodontcha?

It had been a big week at work, and hot as fuck for that time of year, but on the Friday we were finished at lunchtime and i was already a third of the way there so how fucken stoked was i. Meandered up there and finally hit the Chateau late afternoon, still in my high-vis top, plus my sunburnt head and permanent wide brim grin cos i was so fucken chuffed to be there, and i looked like a fucken traffic light. Harry McHighBeam in the house. But there were already a few people there pissing up in the backyard, so i hit the Canterbury Cream and yarned to Jeff, he took to the CC like a duck to water. Then someone gave me some valium and a few smokes and suddenly we were all mobbing up on the footpath then all the taxis left and me and Maddog missed out. Lance, the good cunt, delayed the start till we got there. For some reason i took my tinny as fuck portable CD player/car stereo with Never Mind The Bollocks on permanent rotation and my car keys. We got there and i had to bowl straight up and open the event with some bullshit story i'd just made up, then introduce Talos, the first band. The rest of the night was a melting pot of people and bands and general debauchery and constantly having to ply Ross and Lyn with alcohol. Lightweights. I can't even remember who all played but i know they were all fucken brilliant. Always are. Then all this fucken cool music got put on the stereo and a few of us were having a boogie and loving it. And i finally met Mutante. Then i remember stumbling all the way back to Hereford with Lance and Angus and Roger setting a cracking pace while i did my best to keep up and Maddog kind of hung with me out of sympathy, and the whole time i had Never Mind The Bollocks blaring full tit, which was actually quite loud in suburban CHCH at 3 or 4 i the morning. And then i realised i was wearing a jacket that wasnt mine, and the bag i was carrying that i thought contained alcohol, was actually full of books. What.The.Fuck. I was so pleased to get back to the house, ate a whole lot of cold vegan pies then crashed.
The next morning i got up and was still having a ball until i realised i'd lost my car keys and couldn't even remember when the fuck i'd had them last. My whole world crumbled a little cos it opened up such a shower of unneccessary shit. We drove to the Trike Club to pick up some gear in Maddogs van, but the keys weren't there so i drove back to the house in case they'd suddenly appeared but they werent there so i got back in the van then Lance rang and he'd found them sitting on the bar at The Trike Club. Fuck yeah!! Suddenly the sun came out and i was on a summer holiday, just taking my fucken time and everything was sweet as a nut. Picked up Lance and Angus and Roger and went back to the chateau and started getting on it. People just kept on arriving. All the Skumhammer crew turned up and i asked them if they'd just driven up from Dunedin. They all looked at me with a spot the retard look and told me they'd been talking to me the night before! Time to sit down Bolshy. I needed a shit anyway. Thing is, the toilet at the Chateau was just a little room in the corner of the wash-house and the screen-printing was getting done in there, and there was a queue. So i had to shuffle my way in and meekly enter the shitter. Dunno if it was the vegan pies or what, but there was some serious carnage. Then i wiped and stood up and flushed and knew that i had to open the door and face everyone in the screen-printing queue, and i knew my previous outlay fucken reeked. Very intimidating situation, but i made it back outside. But it wasn't over. About an hour and a half later i had another flurry of faeces pushing on the exit door and i knew there was no avoiding it. And this time the screen printing queue was even longer! I kid you not. So i thought, fuck it, just be true to myself, and i went straight in the shitter and did the business, and when i finished i opened the toilet door and left it wide open and strode out like the man, i OWNED that shit. Anyway, what a great afternoon, i was having a fucken ball. Heaps of food and alcohol and other distractions. One of the vegans present even had a guzzle on the cream but then spewed his ring out. I actually remember all the bands, and they were all fucken brilliant. They always are. And somewhere along the way the daylight gave way to dark and we all headed to the Trike Club for more great bands and people and good times. Not quite as many punters, but a lot more acid. And afterwards i caught a taxi with Tanya and Tony and everyone ended up back at the Chateau sitting round a fire talking and drinking and laughing. Somehow i made it to bed.
The next day had a very sluggish beginning and we all sort of stumbled round the place. The Numbskull boys were cutting it fine for their flight home so i gave them a ride to the airport and when i dropped them off Chris Ret got out and snorted out a fucken gargantuan greenie that just didn't wanna break off. It almost hung from his nostril to the footpath. Hahahaha, fuck i laughed. Piss off you degenerate north islanders.
When i got back to the house, most of the remaining people had gotten up, so we all just started getting on it. It was a nice day, but the wind came up a little and caused me and Axel to have a very tender hand-holding moment as we tried to save the pile of amphetamines that everyone else was recklessly using. Then we all got up and walked down the road to the bottle store and bought heaps of piss then staggered our way to Bishop Street via the rubble of the old CBD. So much fun, a big crowd of jovial punk rockers drunkenly stumbling through CHCH on a sunday afternoon.
Decent sized group of people round there. We were all loving it, and smashing up pellets with a sledgehammer for firewood and bopping about to Freak Magnet when noise control officer came round but he was a good dude and could see the situation for what it was, an unreasonable neighbour feeling resentful cos they weren't having as good a time as us. Pylon surprisingly pulled it together for a mean set, and people were loving it and climbing on the roof and Tyrone carried on being the double yolker that he was all weekend. Then a few of us staggered home and i had some more pies and crashed out again.
I got up quite early and it was a shitty day so i did the dishes and fucked around and visited some geezers then got in my rolls royce and meandered my way out of town. Didn't even make it to Ashburton before i had to pull over and sleep for two hours!! Long, slow journey.
What a gargantuan weekend. Better even than i expected, despite all the heavy metal

***Its nine months later and i've just banged out the things i remember in one sitting, so its possibly a little vague.***
