Kyuss Lives! - Wellington
Managed to miss Beastwars again due to a much stronger need to stay at home and drink heaps of beers with Fraser.
Got to Vic about five minutes before Kyuss started.
I was pretty damn stoked with the new layout of the venue. So much better than I ever remember it being for the other shows that I'd been to there.
Anyways, Kyuss were fucken awesome.
Who gives a shit about Josh Homme. The Rich Burns look-alike was such a good addition to such an amazing lineup. Lots of dancing was had.
The only thing that sucked was the insane amount of white douche bags with dreads. Fuck off with that hippy shit. White dudes and dreads never works. Stop trying.
But yeah. Kyuss.
Dream come true material, right there. Wish Marms was there to get some sweet photos.

Incredible show, never thought I'd get to see Kyuss! So good.
I thought beastwars did a really good job opening the show, and their albums been growing on me hardout.
I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought that Bruno Fevery looks a spitting Image of 2006-era Rich Burns.
Laughed my ass off when John Garcia solicited a joint out from the crowd, got it, hit it then discreetly turned around and spewed behind the guitar amps!
Kyuss's setlist was something like this:
Gardenia
Hurricane
One Inch Man
Conan Troutman
Freedom Run
Asteroid
Odyssey
Spaceship Landing
El Rodeo
100 Degrees
Encore:
50 Million Year Trip (Downside Up)
Allen's Wrench
Green Machine

Definitely the best reunion act i've seen in ages, looked like they were enjoying themselves. stoked to see him have a puff onstage, did he puke or did he just bend down and stubb it out there? either way massive kudos.
Funniest bit for me was seeing a guy get pulled out to the front, and just as he gets there he pukes all over the front of the stage. Oliveri was very amused.
The freedom run - conan troutman - supa scoop and mighty scoop trio back to back was awesome. 50 million year trip was a good pick to start the encore with too. after having seen so many reunion shows recently that sucked balls, this was awesome.

Was definitely a spew, I was up top and could see the whole thing. Oliveri had a huge chuckle at him.
The whole band was great, Bjork, Oliveri and Rich Burns were all killing it. Garcia still has mad pipes 16 years after they split!

shit yeah they killed it. dude on gat had it down. more of a metal tone than homme might have had but it suited the live show. garcia puked but it was a while after he procured that joint. like three songs before the encore or something.

maybe he set all the other chuckers off too, cause damn someone really made a mess upstairs at the main entrance end.
i feel bad for the dude who came over and stood next to me having a toke out the window... i tapped him on the shoulder and said 'gizza drag' or something to that effect and he fully dropped nuts, threw his doobie out the window and ran off!! didn't think i looked like that much of a cop ;/

Felt sorry for the bar staff. Whoever decided it was a good idea to only have 6 people working on a 2 sided bar with hundreds of stoned thirsty beardos keen for dranx doesn't know how to run a bar.

Pretty sure Thumb was in there somewhere as well, but looks like most of it.
Was fucking choice as gig. Was a bit weary given the age of the tunes and a general aprehension of reunion types deals, but they totally killed the place.
Sound was just like I'd imagined it would be; loud, dirty, fuzzed out grooves.
Awesome/10, so mean...

Hahaha, fuck you'd think they would've seen that one coming.
Loal at Garcia hurling up some lung butter, happens to the best of us.

Sat. night in Akld was just plain mean... not quite puking-mean. Whitewater was wicked. I wish they were playing stuff off Sons of Kyuss/Wretch. Early demos and all that.

Whole shit in Wellies was aces as. So stoked they came here. Feel bad that Chch missed out and all, but couldn't afford to travel, so bonus as.
So fucking happy that they knocked their shit outta the park, such a good night.
Seeing Nick Oliveri come out to check out Beastwars from the sneaky sidelines and having a bit of a headbang to those guys was awesome to see as well, cause they were fucking rad too...
Badass fun all around...

Haha. Yeah totally would have been awesome.
Fatso Forgotso was killer. Spaceship Landing was a highlight for me, and Whitewater was choice. Someone next to me yelled out during Whitewater "Josh who?", he got a few evil looks.
Cool venue, both Beastwars and Kyuss sounded huge. I think when those opening notes of Gardenia hit, i died a little inside.
Killer/10.

That's awesome. Oliveri hung out after his solo shoe at KA, good as kent.
I didn't go to any of these shoes, probably regret that at some point.

"josh who" is a completely valid call.
I think it's lint.

Josh who wrote the song you're headbanging to...
That being said, I didn't miss him.

I think it's lint.

Re: Kyuss Lives! - Wellington
I've already said I don't care that he wasn't there - but he did write the VAST MAJORITY of their songs, and to write him off as irrelevant to Kyuss is, as Milky Pisswit wrote, Complete and utter bullshit.
