It was a damn good time, make sure you line up in time for the 17% 8 Wired beer. It was gone in about 20 minutes.

Just spent 2 weeks in Austin. Fuck their Micro-brewery Scene is going off right now, things popping up all over the place.

Delved into these:

Image
Hops and Grain Pale Dog Excellent Pale Ale, pretty bitter and crisp.

Image
Hops and Grain Alteration Sweetened Pale Ale, honey was nice, not quite as sweet as the summer varieties that come out though.

Image
Austin Beerworks Peacemaker Easy to drink pale ale, nothing to bitter or complex

Image
Deep Ellum IPA Good and Hoppy.

Image
Victory Headwaters Pale Ale Not from Austin, but i think was my favourite Pale Ale.

Fuck i love IPAs.

Now in Japan and its a lot of this:

Grave News:

Emersons has been bought out by Lion. :(

The plan is apparently to leave it as an independent unit running as it does now within Lion, but as Hashigo Zake say it's only a matter of time before it turns to shite.

Guess I'd better drink as much Emersons as I can when I'm back in a couple of weeks.

Agreed. The problem is the fucking name. I've really likes the beers that I have had made in that style, I just wish they would call them something else.

Raven? Or are you calling the beer Jay had dark? (they're not).

They are also known as "Cascadian Dark Ales", so call it that if you have a problem with black and pale being in the same name.
I think Black IPA describes it better - people will understand that right away, hoppy and dark. Who says India Pale Ale anyway?

currently serving: Nevermind the Bitters. Got an earbashing from a Brit at work that it was too aromatic to which I told him I was already aware and will adjust recipe next time. Then he told me I had the alcohol content wrong, can't please some people :calav:
