Had a few really nice porters of late; Ballast Point Victory at Sea, Longbeard black vanilla porter and Mike's strawberry sour porter.

I just had this amazing Mexican/US collaboration beer, Xocoveza mocha stout. Shit is insane. I've never had a beer with this many distinct noticeable flavours before.

I was just told about this today as well. I'm always at Gailbraith's at like 4pm so a RIS is a bit br00tal an option. How come you don't like their beers bud?

At work last week for our single keg (we do a experimental 50l batch pretty much every week, only available at the brewery bar) we had a belgian brown ale with nutella lined up. The belgian brown part came along nicely, but the brewer was unsure how to get the nutella in there, and waited till the last minute, after we had announced on facebook we were doing a nutella beer and people got all fucking excited. He chucked it in and it ruined the whole thing, was all greasy and gross. So 15 minutes before i needed to tap it they ended up ripping 30 litres of our winter core range belgian brown india ale (Henry Ford's Girthsome Fjord), and 20 litres of our lactose vanilla barleywine (Spotted Dick), blending them and adding a fuck load of Creme de Cacao and Frangelico. People fucking loved it! Like LOVED it. Kept remarking how nutella-y it was. Heh!

What are ya mate!

Nah I do like Galbraiths beers, I just don't think they are amaaaaazing, or at least usually not as amazing as the guest beers. When ever they release a new one I usually give it a go to see what they are trying.

I guess it's the English in me that enjoys a hand-pulled bitter over something I can get somewhere else. I do love Parrot Dog though and they seem to always have some of their beer - yum!

So I discovered Four Horsemen Hopocalypse triple IPA is pretty good. However that shit should come with a warning label, I feel like it almost killed me today

Yeah I think I'm at the point where my equipment has paid for itself, I didn't do it to save money and I still don't really, it's just handy having a variety of beers at my disposal without going to the shops. I still buy a 6er or litre once a week just to see what interesting stuff is coming out

Thoroughly enjoying the cheap beers from the späti here in Berlin (spätkauf/späti= open late general store). I tend to go for an old favourite, Augustiner hell (bright lager from the oldest independent brewery in Munich, established in 13fucking28). Or Rothaus pils, which is bloody good but I often feel real dozy after a couple. Maybe the hops. Had a few decent hefeweizen too. Even better from tap. Now that it's fuckin' cold all of a sudden I'm looking forward to some dece bockbier. Also, my step uncle has a pretty cool wine shop not far which specialises in French organic wines from small (and some co-op) producers. Pretty awesome. He gave us a bottle by the label of Zappa, a homage to Frank (he's a big fan). So even awesomer.

I won't go on about it, but pretty much drowned in beer in Prague a while back. We were hitting 38deg at the time so the Irish in me thought the best idea was to hydrate with pils. (Wasn't the best idea.) Fucking hell. But so cheap. And decent as fuck. As was the curry.

Speaking of curry, some späti sell curry on the sneaky which is cool. I've made some funny purchases... Including one where I was taken to a dero as fuck pokie bar where I hung out with some rather militant-looking Russians, watching a legless kid play GTA on Playstation, waiting for some gangster to turn up with the goods. By the time he arrived the bar was full, and emptied again when everyone got what they came for. And a couple of weeks ago I came across a plant growing beside the footpath only just hidden next to a sign. It had a small head and was mature as it was gonna get before the cold set in so I picked it, hung it for a week and gave it a hoon. Tasted pretty rats (probably too much chlorophyll from not harvesting properly... or a dog pissed on it) but it had a nice buzz. Free curry, fuck yeah. (Sorry for posting about curry in beer thread, but they go well together let's be honest.)

Apparently some kiwis have opened a craft beer shop around the corner from our place... Haven't had a look yet. Will check it out at some point and report back.

tl;dr - drunk rn, having a cool time.

Yeah, because alcoholics buy from the top shelf...

As long as supermarkets loss lead on shit beer and wine, price will not be a barrier to alcoholism.

NZers are pretty retarded when it comes to booze though.

But yeah the few NZ breweries I like on FB seem to making them, which is interesting. I like the Belgian sours so interested if the NZ ones are good as

Here too. Bunch of beer cunts at work that like them. Have had a couple at a good craft beer pub we go to on Fridays sometimes, they are pretty tasty.

I had this a while ago and it was delicious

could have told you that 15 years ago, probably did, its even more true of whisky.

my current jam is sprig and fern black IPA, it probably offends all the beer wankers in here, but in my estimation it is delicious, as good, if not better than the fantastic mix of flavours that is mount brewing co's 'india dark' obviously very similar beers in style, but quite a different taste, both of which tho, are excellent.

anyone know of any other dark pale ales? lol :calavcalav:

chur, il keep my eyes peeled, at this moment im pouring with total abandon an arabica dabra down my gullet, i think i mentioned it once earlier in this thread and wasnt greatly impressed, i only got it this time out of the need to be fast and wanted something dark, but im actually quite enjoying it, even if the coffee flavour is a bit distracting.

If you ever make it down to Marlborough they Sprig & Fern pubs where you can sample any 6 of the 12 or more beers on tap for $18. The sample sizes is generous too, close to a half pint size.

I don't know if you can get it in NZ, but Kooinda Black IPA is really good. Emerson's make a black IPA too, The Rapture I think it's called.
