Drinking cocktails

Postby dave-brown » Sun May 19, 2019 10:57 am

Went on a pub crawl through my suburb lastnight. Few long island ice teas. Pretty gross. But they worked.
Ended up at the gay bar. My mate fell over and knocked a table of drinks over. In doing so she broke her arm. Haha. Good night.
Being a union worker she will now get 38 bucks an hour to sit at home for 6 weeks. A pity nz has such weak unions. Fuckin muldoon

It won't be out of the employers pocket. There is a kind of insurance included when you're a union member. Incolink.. I'm not entirely sure if it is a separate entity from the Cmfeu or if insurance is the best way to describe it. But there is income protection included. Theyre actually a pretty solid outfit. They offer counseling and all kinds of stuff. They come into all the trade schools and teach apprentices money management and talk about gambling etc.
She will probably not get her full wage for the entirety of the time, but she will be looked after for sure. Australia is pretty cruisy place to live. Especially working in the trades in Victoria. I only work residential so the money ain't quite as sweet

Had a few cocktails with the boys while in Italy, pretty good for getting hammered. Bit pricey in NZ but we’ve got a fairly well stocked liquor cabinet these days, being old innit, so all good

ACC covers some pretty stupid shit in New Zealand but I wouldn't have it any other way.

I think you guys are missing the point, or maybe i am not explaining myself well. Incolink is sort of a superannuation type situation that is available to union workers. It is a private investment company that allows its members to access various services, including income protection/ They take a portion of your annual salary. I think this is a pretty essential thing to people in trade work. If you are injured you cant work, especially being a kiwi in a foreign country where you cannot get the dole, its a very positive thing. I also think if i had broken my arm drunk, I may slightly sugar coat the story in order to gain payment, if you catch my drift. Noone loses out, except a few bucks from a massive private investment company. They payed $80,000 for a friends work mates cancer treatment.... it is kind of what they are there for. Nz just lost its unions and workers perks so long ago that it seems foreign to us. I don't even own a hi vis rain coat....we don't work in the rain here. A luxury not afforded in NZ, but i will refuse to work in the rain...it will just rust and fuck my tools. Well a slight drizzle or if im under the pump I might, but in general I wouldnt. I wouldnt of dream of refusing to work in the rain in NZ, they just send me packing back to whatever bullshit hire agency i had to resort to working under

All that being said, I am not a massive cocktail guy, I like G and T's and bloody mary's. I once got a drink called a Captain Vacation on an island in south vietnam. They kind of made it up and it was never the same twice lol.
Also pert.... tell me more about this full liquor cabinet... see you in december... you can make me a Captain Vacation

Mmm GnTs.
Currently getting organised to make sloe gin . Or damson gin if I can't find blackthorn...

I wish I'd had trade based injury cover when I was doing field based work. Three times I have had ACC turn down an injury as a pre existing condition, despite never having done it before. They did cover my whale damage though.

I got wacked on the hand by a dying pilot whale during a stranding on Stewart Island. I never got it x-rayed, but I probably broke a few little bones in my left hand. I had a week off the chainsaw. Probably should have had more but I got bored and strapped the fuck out of my hand and just whinged constantly for about six weeks.

I'm quite partial to spiced rum and apple juice and ice.

And mojitos in hot countries.

Does whisky count as a cocktail if you add a little bit of water to it?

I watched a friend's band play for a couple of hours at the very snooty Caretaker cocktail bar in Auckland last year. $19 a drink so I set myself a limit of 2 and did my best to make each last 1 hour. Not necessarily overpriced though as they're like the Lego of custom cocktails. You imagine it, they can build it.

Shall we just agree- ginger wine and everything?

I just bottled a feijoa fizz. Tried fermenting the skin's in a bucket of sugar and water for a week, one of the bottles I put a glug of ginger wine into instead of sugar as an experiment. Hoping for dry, fizzy and 3 or 4%.

And dont get into drunken fights and get the bash from homos/LGQTITs/dykes at gay bars.

(Ginger wine is terrible and anyone who likes it should be banned from punkas. Especially if they think they can make a cocktail out of it)

Tbh you would have to be pretty silly to fight a dragqueen. They been punching on their whole lives.

The only fighting that night was a losing battle with gravity.

I got called a faggot for having a Bloody Mary in a pub once. I’ve been called the same for drinking my usual red wine but that incident started a tradition of me purchasing the most flowery drink I can think of in my gruffest voice in the blokiest pubs.
