Second to last episode...
That first song got stuck in my head after some of you guys kept posting it in the 'now listening' thread.

Getting one of these in 160W - http://sanctionsnow.com/products/never- ... o-hdx-wide
Pretty excited to have a bit more of a poppy jumpy board. I've always had super stiff all mountain thingers until now.

Also anyone got recommendations on getting a good deal for snow in Canada? I'm trying to go from about the 21st of December to around the 5th of January, which is the worst possible time but that's when I'm free.
I don't really care where I go, any mountain is gonna be fun but I'm based out of Toronto so something in Vermont/Quebec/NY/Ontario is ideal.

So what I'm looking for is cheap accomodation at a cheap mountain :D

It's not going to be that bad, we're already getting snow where I am so by Jan you should be good to go.

Nah nah, I mean a good deal money wise. I don't mind going to a smaller mountain if it means I can stay for $30 a night or whatever.

True true, yeah after re-reading it that makes sense although apart from over Xmas/NY you should be ok because they don't get the massive school holidays like we do in NZ.

In saying that I don't know fuck all about the East coast so can't really help you sorry.

Never Summer boards are solid. My split is a NS. Pretty bomber construction, possibly the toughest top sheets out there. The profiles are good.

Have had a pretty good winter really. Considering I've kept up the mountainbiking/cycling, still got plenty of good days on snow, and it's looking like we'll get a few more good backcountry days through spring. Solid snowpack down south. Unfortunately work commitments are ruling out spring time glacier missions, but I'm working on a plan so that that's not such an issue next year...

Bit of a recap of the season to date in pictures (unfortunately none from Temple Basin coz it rained the whole time so cameras generally stayed in packs, but the riding was still good as always up there!).

One hell of a pow day way out back of remarks

Doing some turns on Bowen Peak (we rode the Gondola for access, reasonably hilarious)

More pow out back of remarks

Those are just pics stolen off mates, got a whole lot to sift through from this season.
I think it's lint.

Fuck, that looks awesome!

I met a bunch of brits while canoeing over the weekend so I might be able to piggyback on their trip to Tremblant and hoon some French Canadian snow.

Update: Success, am piggy backing on their chalet booking. Tremblant does a student deal as well, $350 for a season pass. Meeeean.

Our opening got delayed a week but finally happened yesterday, first ski hill in Canada to open this season which is unusual.

Picked up my pass and did a few laps, icy and over groomed as expected with only like 4 of 145 runs open.

Still, felt great to be back on the board even if I was taking it pretty easy.

You're at Lake Louise yeah? What do you reckon late January will be like? I'm gonna be in the area 20-27th of Jan. Hoping to do 4 days on the mountain. That way the missus can learn while I ride and if she doesn't dig it we're not too bogged down there.

Should be good. Jan can get pretty cold... like, -40°C but there will be a decent amount of snow by then so all the bowls will be a go.

Tbh I don't usually bother leaving the house on days like that, I've stacked it in pow on -30 days and had it end up stuck on bare skin (face) and it burns like fuck.

A quick read of a few guides suggests exactly that, don't bother on days below -27.

A slightly more environmentally friendly option than having some helicopter tracking and filming you. I really dug the above video cause while they were flown in, they did at least hike their lines and stuff.

I had a friend who was using a UAV for footage, fuck it was cool but unfortunately Parks Canada put an end to that.

Finally had a bit of pow last night so about to go for a hoon, Tues/Weds are looking good this week.

Dickheads with uavs are undermining decent practical use.

Nice to see things kicking off up there. Will hopefully get out for another splitboard mission or two over the next couple of months, few things I'd like to have a look at in Fiordland, just gotta fit it in amongst the mountainbiking!

I don't disagree with that, just spent a week at a conference dealing with uav bullshit...

Expect to see similar stuff (in terms of missions/riding) coming out of NZ over the next couple of years. Will be a bit slower, because it's no big budget sponsor loaded shit, but the lines are at least as gnarly, access at least as difficult, and riders at least as rad.

Some serious nature snowboarding porn in there, such an awesome mission (not me, couple of guys I know)

Jealous of Revelstoke though, that place sounds insane.
