2011 election results

Postby akaxo » Sat Nov 26, 2011 7:26 pm

advanced votes starting to come in. looking good for MMP. and looking good for the 99% of the country who think ACT are dicks as banksy is number two in epsom. nats on 49% of party vote and advanced votes historically favour the nats. and nz first comfortably over 5%.

gonna be interesting. been thinking it was gonna be a hell of a lot closer than the polls indicated.

greens will pick it up later, if banks wins epsom i hope they dont get any more seats.
sharples isnt lookin too safe in his seat. pretty slim margin but still early days, think maori party getting involved with key has probably lost a lot of votes back to labour

Along with Tidal Power etc etc all being practical in sense of clean energy sources, instead of the non practical stances/values in the past.

I was thinking about this when I saw their current percentage of the vote compared to labour and I completely agree. I think they'll go from strength to strength and will eventually replace labour as the left-aligned major party. I think this is still a few elections away however.

Winnie's giving his victory speech now. Hahaha, this is great. I can't wait for the ensuing dramas.

two ticks green. they have been pulling some decent numbers in some electorates. they should think about activaly campaigning for them. 10 percent is not enough though. expect they'll get an extra seat or two from specials tho.

glad winnie is up there.

hopefully mana can keep it together for 3 years and get a second seat next time.

interesting that the conservative party is at 3 percent. how is their leader going?

National's share keeps dropping all the time, but there probably aren't enough votes to drop them back to 59 seats. Shame, because if they fell to 58, it would be very interesting because they wouldn't have a majority with just Banks and Dunne.

Shame the people who votes Green electorate didn't vote Labour, or it'd be a comfortable Labour seat.

I guess it's the same with Labour/Green voters in Epsom - if they'd all voted for Goldsmith, Banks would've lost.

Come on special votes, how long do they normally take to be finalised?

yeah, it's not due to the wishes of the green party activists here, all the ones i spoke to were voting for brendon and were telling their people to. frustrating. must be heaps of special votes to come yet too, usually 33-34 000 votes cast here and only at 23 000 with one polling place to come, he now leads by 12 votes.

Hone's running pretty close, only a 750 lead, but 98.8% counted. thought he had a bigger margin than that in the by election

a tie is a bit nuts. there's going to be a bunch of on edge people here for the next couple of weeks. brendon is a good cunt and wagner is such a silly bitch, it better come out in his favour. ffs i hope all the chch central people on here voted for him with it being this close.

i fucking hope not, i've been driving disabled and elderly people to polling places all day, i would have picked the useless cunts up and driven them there myself.

shocking turnout nationally too, under 70% when it was about 80% last time.

sharples just admitted being part of the national government has fucked them, so hopefully they now will follow the left hand path. special votes could get a stupid coalition of 5 parties to have power. but its better than having national having power by themselves (with 2 basically independent douchebags hangin round)

A Labour/Greens/NZ First/Mana governement would be a complete disaster I don't know how anyone could think that would be a good idea.

Need to add maori party for a possibility of governing, and yeah its not an ideal situation, a shitload of things wouldnt be passed under urgency unless they were actually important (oh no). Any big decisions would go to a wide range of parties to have input around whether it should go ahead. I would fear a John Key and his 2 bum boys government a lot more, nobody is there to keep him in check, dunne and banks are cool with getting minister of whatever jobs and getting 200k a year or whatevs to keep quiet. so yeah we're fucked

i know a massive coalition would end up with a lot of bullshit and shit hitting dead ends, but at the end of the day at least things would go to vote before being passed outright by a pack of cunts, i know which option id prefer

and dan, you fuckin suck, thought aidan wouldve dragged you along. your vote wouldve actually made a difference (for your electorate but not the overall position), luckily special votes are usually from the left

there's three very very good hard working people here working for brendon in the electorate office who will lose their jobs if the special votes don't come out in his favour. one is full time dedicated to advocacy work for refugees, immigrants, acc recipients and beneficiaries and another doing the same for earthquake related hassles with eqc and insurance companies. both do an excellent job and the first in particular helps a lot of vulnerable people who are getting fucked around and are struggling. don't see national putting their office resources into doing anything like that. wagner on the other hand said to someone i know who worked for her husband at a christmas work party that it was interesting being there with the workers as she "never talks to those sort of people".

hope you are feeling nice and principled today :fist:
