I wish every person who supports the government's beneficiary bashing welfare reforms would really look at the good folk who lost their jobs this week at Hillside and up north (especially the Yarrow worker with a new baby whose in tears). This is the face of unemployment. Not people to be vilified, but Kiwis who need and deserve dignity, respect and a decent income.

What sort of society do we live in if we cant support our most vulnerable members. Very unmanly.

many of the people who might be affected by this will refuse/be too ignorant to see this. It's fuckin weird, so many people are getting shafted already, but would happily re-elect these fuckers. Do they have no idea what is happening in their own country?
I think it's lint.

its the whole "shell be right" attitude and general apathy that affects the majority in this country . Most people just dont give a shit for anything unless it directly affects them . It would be too easy for this government to continue to erode civil liberties in this country and only a few hundred at best would kick up a stink , as we have seen with the search and surviellance bill.
Occasionally we get mass mobilisations , like with the anti mining marches that offer us a glimmer of hope that peeps give a shit. But in regards to what this government are doing and plan to do to workers etc , its going to take a hell of a lot more before it hits home to the average punter out there .

You say that the law is to allow bad bosses to drive down wages. The solution is so very easy. Don't work for bad bosses. At the end of the day, it's a two way street. Good workers will find good bosses. If you are incompetent and find a bad job, then upskill and find a good boss. There are plenty out there.
This is too cute!
