Newsflash - All men watch porn

Postby xsfat » Tue Dec 08, 2009 5:13 pm

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/relationship ... -find.html

Researchers were conducting a study comparing the views of men in their 20s who had never been exposed to pornography with regular users. But their project stumbled at the first hurdle when they failed to find a single man who had not been seen it. “We started our research seeking men in their 20s who had never consumed pornography,” said Professor Simon Louis Lajeunesse. “We couldn't find any.”

Although hampered in its original aim, the study did examined the habits of those young men who used pornography – which would appear to be all of them. Prof Lajeunesse interviewed 20 heterosexual male university students who consumed pornography, and found on average, they first watched pornography when they were 10 years old.

Around 90 per cent of consumption was on the internet, while 10 per cent of material came from video stores. Single men watched pornography for an average of 40 minutes, three times a week, while those in relationships watched it 1.7 times a week for around 20 minutes.

The study found that men watched pornography that matched their own image of sexuality, and quickly discarded material they found offensive or distasteful.

Prof Lajeunesse said pornography did not have a negative effect on men's sexuality. “Not one subject had a pathological sexuality,” he said. “In fact, all of their sexual practices were quite conventional. “Pornography hasn't changed their perception of women or their relationship, which they all want to be as harmonious and fulfilling as possible,” he added.

Had a mate that got dumped because his mrs asked if he looked at porn while they were together, and he said yeah. Didnt hear from her again.

Its like breaking up with your boyfriend because he had a penis.

I was seeing a girl a while back who sat me down all serious and told me she'd found a porn reference in my history and tried to get all high and mighty. I just laughed at her and told her that jerking off is like having a cup of tea and that if she didn't like it, fuck off.

She stayed. I dumped her soon after.

I reckon that's a really simple test of whether a girl is completely unreasonable or not.

Fair enough don't do it while they're around, don't put it as the computer desktop or whatever, but saying "don't do it ever" just shows a very poor grasp on reality.

she sounds like a prude. You should ditch her i reckon

I guess there are plenty of reasons someone might not like the actual industry and oppose it on those grounds. But in that case i'd expect some kind of compromise...n00dz or some such.

I was perhaps only irked by his choice of words, but point still stands. Some tart can't tell me something unreasonable is reasonable, no matter how long we discuss it. I can assess the situation and decide to follow an unreasonable course of action in the interests of my partner and relationship, but it doesn't make it any less unreasonable.

So where do you draw the line? What if someone you cared very deeply for harboured an aversion to you leaving the house?

I'd say that line depends on the people involved. I think it's okay to say, "I'd talk about it" rather than go into a relationship with a set of rules the other person must obey. You never know, you might change your mind!

Like, I can say I'd never date a girl who likes Michael Bay films, but maybe I could live with it as long as she kept it to herself and didn't splash it in my face.

Interesting point - but not entirely fair IMO. I suppose I just see porn as one of those things it's ok to be opposed to - while leaving the house is not.

I dunno - I suppose if had a girlfriend who was opposed to porn- I'd take it to mean 'jacking off to porn' rather than just looking at it in passing.
But more consider if the girl is hardline vegetarian - it would be reasonable for her to say 'don't eat meat (at all)'?

I have a girl friend who who is uber feminist and she sees porn as essential degrading to women, perpetuating the idea that women are sexual objects etc. (but 'erotica' is ok... go figure).

Other things that would be ok to be opposed to:
Eating meat.
Drugs/Alcohol/Smoking.
Other dietry things (if she she was hardout health nut).

I suppose its that porn is a consumption.

Nah, I reckon anything is up for debate. You just weigh it up, "Do I want to be with this person more than I want to do XXXXXX". And they, in turn, have to decide, "Do I want to be with this person more than I want to not be around XXXXXXX".

And everyone's lines are different. As mentioned above, if I walk in on the missus jilling off to the Discovery Channel, we could talk about it. Whereas if she was buying a Blu-ray Special Extra Explosions Edition of Transformers 2, I'd start packing my bags.

Yeah I feel we've sort of lost what we began to talk about. I'm just saying that whether something is reasonable or unreasonable in my opinion is independent of how accommodating, flexible and open minded you are.

I think it's unequivocally unreasonable to ban dsw, porn and other such activities no matter what the relationship. This doesn't mean I'd never give them up - people do unreasonable shit to stay in their relationships all the time. All I'm saying is a discussion and an agreement /= reasonable.

I think it's pretty unreasonable to expect someone to stop something just cause you don't like it, no matter what it is.

Surely that kinda thing just breeds resentment.

Sure - I'd agree it's kinda dumb to get into a relationship with the intent of changing that person.

Sort of. Like - I think the meat thing is a good analogy. So say the guy is in the punkrock/activist-type scene - is familiar with all the vege arguements etc - It wouldn't be a huge deal for him to stop eating meat. Like - it might be just such a deal breaker for the girl- but she likes everything else about him - in that case - It would be reasonable for her to request that he stops eating meat - and then it wouild be up to him - how much he values eating meat vs having a relationship.

I suppose porn is one of those things that isn't immediately apparent that they do. (What are you going to do - when you start 'dating' say 'Oh - so do you watch porn? If so, I don't want to go any further with this relationship').

P.S. Punkas talks about relationships - Oh wow.

It would be a more interesting study to find out how many people have watched an entire porno in a single sitting.

When I was in second year uni my friends birthday consisted of us getting really drunk and watching about four porn films back to back. He used to stand up and yell at the tv "STICK IT IN HER ARSE!" "YOU CALL THAT A BLOWJOB?" etc.

China will defeat you immoral deviant motherfuckers!!!!

http://ibtimes.com.au/articles/20091209 ... p-offs.htm

Chinese authorities have found a new way to combat online pornography - by offering cash rewards to qualified informers who are able to provide tips about pornographic Web and WAP sites.

The Chinese government is looking to combat online pornography in nine categories, including mobile WAP sites that contain obscene material and sites that provide information deemed harmful to young people. The initiative also applies to Web sites that advertise adult products or that link to other adult sites.

Since announcing the new initiative, the China Internet Illegal Information Reporting Centre had received more than 13,000 online tip-offs and more than 500 phone calls by 5:00 p.m. Saturday - 10 times the usual daily number.

The state-run Xinhua news agency reports that, according to a joint statement issued on Friday by the China Internet Illegal Information Reporting Centre and three other government departments, internet users who report to the police on Web sites that contain lewd and pornographic material are eligible for rewards ranging from 1,000 Yuan to 10,000 Yuan. Authorities have also set up special phone numbers and email addresses for the public to submit information.

If more than one report on the same website had been submitted, the earliest informer would be rewarded.

It is reported that upon receiving reports from the public, government officials will investigate further and informers will be rewarded once their leads are confirmed with the amount payable depending on how complicated and important the case turns out to be.

i suspect this sort of shit is more along the lines of being in a relationship, then walking in on them in a rubber nazi uniform beating off to pictures of tanks etc... rather than meeting someone at a pub and them saying - Hi, I'm Simon... I have an enormous porn collection, just sayin' ;)

i know plenty of girls that would consider either of those things a quality pick up line. just sayin
