In the United States sex offenders can range from rapists and pedophiles to youngsters convicted of illegal but consensual relationships with minors.
Another victimless crime, punished in a cruel & unusual way.

That's exactly it, the law is barely relavent to Horus's example.
way to miss his point though
nazi scum wrote:Doesnt seem victimless to me, laws are to protect the weak and vulnerable in society. The idea is a minor does not have the reasoning capacity to make decisions in their best interests and so must be protected, by law.
No, laws are made to keep the powerful in power, and give everyone else the illusion that they ***might*** get justice (if they can cough up for an expensive-enough lawyer.)
And we all know that in any court case, its not about who is guilty, its not about "justice being done", its about who spends most on their lawyer.
But what I was referring to was two 15-yr olds having consensual sex. Just an innocent time for two lovebirds. But now, they are crims for life and condemned to live under a bridge with the pervos. What sort of sicko society is that?
I think as long as we treat this rather delicate issue with sweeping generalisations and blanket statements and remember not too look at the merits of each case and the particular circumstances surrounding it, and who's pressing the charges, and make sure that if both parties are the same age, it's the mle that get's tried for stat rape, we'll be doing alright as a civilised society.

PC stands for parental consent, so unless you get your parents to sign a permission slip, a fair few states aim for 18.
