Fuck, I should have went! The cheek!

Postby kittenslayer » Wed Mar 29, 2006 8:27 pm

British Prime Minister Tony Blair said the situation in Iraq was a difficult one but it wasn't another Vietnam War.

Blair arrived in New Zealand and was greeted by a group of anti-Iraq war protesters who chanted "Blood on your hands" and "British Army, killing machine".

"It is a very difficult situation, you're right, but this isn't Vietnam." Blair said in an interview with Radio New Zealand, during a two-day visit to the country.

Defending his government's policies on Iraq, Blair said the troops were operating with the consent of the Iraqi people.

"Vietnam was an occupation where there was a completely different set of circumstances," he said.

"In Iraq, we're there with the consent of the democratically elected government and the U.N. If the democratically elected government that'll be formed shortly says to us 'leave', we'll leave but they're not saying that."

Tens of thousands of American and British troops are battling a violent insurgency in Iraq, where the rising death toll has prompted a comparison with the U.S. war in Vietnam that ended in 1975 in a humiliating defeat for Washington.

Blair is visiting New Zealand after attending the Commonwealth Games in Australia. He is due to leave for Indonesia later on Wednesday.

Should have went and called the cunt funny names! :x

In all fairness, the death toll and insurgency is no where near that of Vietnam.

Peacemaker, Immigrant workers and Chinas Civil Liberties

Postby Future Shock » Thu Mar 30, 2006 5:07 am

don't fall for their peacemaker either or puppy dog eyes of a beaten dog, they will always stab you in the back casue power always corrupts.

there was an article today about immigrants in the us protesting the us state wanting to make harsher laws for them not like theyve got social security which they don't which is required under law, all states are a farce, like they said how many mexicans have been terrorists and who built the two towers.

its people who made up laws of liberty and freedom and it will be people who will look after them, Latin America is sidling up to China, China has awesome civil rights(sarcy), America is creating a new cold war along with China and nuclear weapons aren't there for nothing but to create nothingness, a nihilism or fatalism that is unforgivable, jesus if he existed did not ask for this for you religious people who beleive in fate and think hindus are silly. :?
and don't believ they won't make us piggy in the middle as always while they drink fine wine behind closed doors and resources dwindle, hard to fight when your hungry, they know that but that we will but we need people which there is more of but convincing them that history is perpetuating and needs to stop for us to really progress and live sustainably and truly peacefully, you can't turn a blind eye forever as it will bite you on the ass and must face up to it.

I'm not saying don't eat meat, that will come with time but you must change the way things are done on the bigger sacae or being vegan won't mean shit and I'm not deriding those who do either just saying it ain't the be all and end all or even a beginning.

If you don't particularly like the usa's foreign policy watch what capitalism who will do to and when they work with anybody becasue its not an ideology but has become one will work with the capitalist-communists and deride you of your right of their choosing such a as stealing resources just becasue they can, na won't stop that so get busy and people will run this world properly not wankers like george bush, tony blair, maoist ideology(who is the head of china now) I will look up, burlosconi, fascist liberal ideology which is essentially rascist, yea fuck your rights too, howard, clark the commie(she only doesn't go too far becasue we are watching just as much she us and it would ruin the lie).

Don't vote you fools, they use young people always to regain power and then take advantage and it happens every 3 years and the shit still goes down, don't give them the mandate and work towards a society that has shown doesn't need the machinations of power but real choice.

politicians are like 2 poisonous snakes in a basket, choose one, no choice.
D.I.Y. with us all.

It came as a surprise to me to learn that the US lost more troops in their first year in Iraq than they did in their first year in Vietnam. The Vietnam war went on for a long time and took quite a few years to reach the level of full scale war from low level insurgency. Who knows whether this will happen in Iraq. One thing is for sure, opposition to the Iraq war has grown faster both within the USA and in the rest of the world than it did during the Vietnam war. One of the fundamental differences is that Vietnam was a war of national liberation that turned into a civil war. Iraq was a foreign invasion with some local support (Kurds, some southern Iraqi's) that has become a war of ideology as Islamic fundamentalists flood into the country to both kill Americans and to destabilise Iraq in an attempt to set up a fundamentalist Islamic State.

I think you'll find that the majority of Iraqis wanted to be rid of Sadaam. The Sunnis arent the muslim majority in Iraq, and besides the Kurds, the Shiites were the second most oppressed group there.

Of course that doesnt necessarily mean they want America their either.

At what point were 'the majority of Iraqi's' ever asked?

I think Hillbilly's post regarding Iraq/Vietnam was pretty accurate.

'Liberators do not exist. The people liberate themselves.'
I guess you really need to ask yourself... What Would Graeme Do?

So you meant scientists, stop being so emotive, it detracts from any argument you might have had.

this is about you with your beliefs not going to a very important protest of solidarity against the war in Iraq and british state lies, were you busy or playing games, sometimes things take precedence.

In Iraq, we're there with the consent of the democratically elected government and the U.N.

Nice one. Invade the country, setup a Government stacked with supporters of your invasion, then stand like a wanker in NZ and say you have consent.

Ignorance? I would put good money on my own knowledge on the subject being far greater than yours Blair, considering that not only am I having to constantly justify my position on here and other places, I work alongside those that are involved in research every single day.

embedded, some posts you a website when you ask for it and discount it like a bad doctor discounts his patient, we know best, oh yea have you listened to anyone else lately and your the one who always goes on about how maybe the drugs I take shouldn't be given to be with my opinion.

thats tunnel vision right there.

patients also know a bit too, its dual partnership, I should know also, I've seen the companys work wonders and stifle research to hold position, this system creates that no doubt.

wot they say is to hold position, greed can be a very powerful potion and be hidden under many layers.
and yes I know their are good people there but they are most likely caught between a rock and a hard place and I hope we can all lossen that burden and they can find me a cure.

There's a shitload of research going on with diabetes, I imagine it would be worth a shitload of money if it was found, so i think you're probably in a good position.

I have to say though, it is pretty ironic to be against the same people who have made sure you arent dead.
