Want - Electric guitar - $50ish - Wellington

Postby Obzen » Tue Mar 13, 2012 10:02 am

Anyone with super cheap guitar?

Preferably in working order, should sound 'okay', maybe a sammick or something?

Is $50 unrealistic? I'm on a budget.

I can pick up from Wellington.

your making a mockery of the guitar by asking if anyone has a guitar for $50 !!!

Save a little money and get something a little better??

you wont regret it.

but you will regret buying a $50

unless....its to keep in your room for when gUrls (or guys) come over and think you playing the guitar and then there clothes instantly fly off

Well I'm about to be a student for 1 year so I don't have any hope of buying anything for a year.

I've only ever been 25% serious about guitar (I'm 100% serious about drums) but I dig songwriting hard and I feel like I could be quite good at it if I start improving on technique and getting lots of practice. So I've decided I want to start getting serious about guitar this year with practice and doing lots of bedroom recording/songwriting. Drums is still gonna be my top priority though.

I'm getting a course related costs loan of $1000 and I want to set myself up for the year to record drums hard but also to have a semi-decent setup for writing and recording.

I have a decent acoustic guitar already.

For my drum recordings I need:
A recording interface with midi ($350ish)
A mixer ($150ish)

For songwriting/recording I need:
An electric guitar ($??)
One of those Line 6 pocket pod things xcaptainx recommended ($150-$200?)
A cheap midi keyboard. ($100-$150?)

So I need to squeeze a lot of equipment out of this $1000. I can maybe go up to $100 on the guitar. I'm pretty sure as a (semi)beginner I can get by for a year with a cheap as shit guitar just to practice and make some (semi)decent bedroom recordings.

are you sure you are only 25% serious about the guitar?

Oh yeah, maybe? Possibly?

I don't have an amplifier, the pocket pod was meant to be a cheap alternative to having one...

The interface of course wont have any distortion & guitar effects, maybe I could add that in using computer software?

I dunno, I thought I'd need both the interface and the pod.

Ozzy dont forget you will need to get the guitar set up to be playable and no doubt you 2will be tuning it to something queer like Drop B sharp

if you dont know anyone to set your guitar up you will be looking at another $60 plus strings

Yeah, maybe! Hadn't got as far as thinking of tuning yet. Probably will be something I'll start thinking of 6 months down the track, but yeah... I probably would eventually want that downtuned queer chunky sound.

Yeah, fuck. That Samick I bought is a peice of shit, even for a Samick. I don't really know my guitars, but this one has a bad case of fret buzz from the 5th fret upwards. I haven't even bothered plugging it in.

Went to cash converters and grabbed a $110 Aria Strat which sounds and feels good to me.

Bought a pocket pod, fucking stoked with the sound.

Now to get rid of the Samick.... what's the deal with fret buzz? should I be feeling ripped off at being sold this guitar? and if I were to sell it should I be obliged to mention the fret buzzing problem?
