Most important member in A band
Ok, is the singer/bassist/drummer or guitarist the most important member in a band?
My personal opinion is a bassist, the sure backbone of the band. And in ska, the true talent!!!

Not necessarily....I know some ska bands with fucking awesome brass and not so good bassists. Often you cant actually hear the bass all that well even though the carry the melody but the horns over power everything when they come in.
But the most important member is whoever writes the songs...cause without them the band is screwed.

So long and thanks for all the posts.
i dunno...i think it's whoever does the most work, so in jam type bands where songs are written very democratically, all musicians putting their two cents in, everybody is about as important, but sometimes the vocalist (who may do next to nothing) might help to pull it off...i think every intstruments importanmt just cos you're not gonna be making the same music without those other people...but yea...did i just contradict myself? i think i did but i can't type and read at the same time...and i don't wnt to read wot i just wrote...ummm...styuff...
I'm not a cool guy anymore.

i don't think any one member is more important than the others.. its a team effort or some stupid uplifting crap like that..

i was guna say vocalist, but then i read the first post....it really depends on who is in ur band....if the bassist writes all the music, then hes the most important and so on....all the way down (drummer, gtarist). but if i had to chose one it would b the guitarist, dont ask me y? and the drummer is pretty important keeping the beat and stuff....but i go wit gtarist

It all depends on what you're focusing your music on, and if you're utilising the talent in the band. It would be different for all bands.
Our singer is the least important right now cause she hasn't done anything and is leaving anyway. Damn you sarah!

drummer of coarse
the drummer is the backbone of the band in any given punk band, with out a tight drummer the band would sound like utter shit. Timing is hell important, of coarse the other musicians must be decent but with out a good drummer they would sound incredibly messy.
FAIT ACCOMLI is a perfect example of a incredibly skilled drummer

FAIT ACCOMPLI!!!
well i heard of this band... kinda sound like fenix tx, the bassist can play like 3 notes, their singer likes boys, thier drummer insist on playing the same rock beat and their two guitarists are on drugs all the time. As a former roadie i think they need some chicks in the band to get the 'sex appeal' which none of the ugly fuckers have!!!
good-day!

Im gunna have to say the bassist, they are always the best looking and the one with the most carizma, talent, sex apeal, style, best car, best car, best dog, horse, and free time, i know 3 bands and ther bassists are nice.
ps. drumers with nice hair, guitarests who are amasingly talented and have nice hair also are neat -but the bassist is best.

ah reckon the most important member is the one who organises the practices .. cause if you don't got a practice, then you don't
