I'm not too worried if you want to be a woman Dan, society is much more open to these types of things these days and so am I.

all you need to know...

Postby hd debs » Thu Jul 29, 2004 11:57 am

From my uncle himself...

"Re:skatebowl , I think it was about 13years ago. Originally it was designed as an above ground structure to be built in wood, there was a lot of opposition to it from all sorts of people. Even the fire brigade across the road thought there would be too many kids around at siren time. Dries Arts and myself convinced the committee to build it in concrete and below ground so it would be quiet, and more permanent. We thought if the craze came to an end we could always fill it back in again. It was designed by two young guys, one a computer CAD designer and originally it was two separate ramps at an angle to each other. The local builders and concrete workers built it as a voluntary project , I cut all the curved boxing for it in my workshop.

It was very popular so more money was raised when the idea of joining the ramps together and creating bowls at the ends was suggested. This was a bit far out for most builders but I knew it was possible to make more complex shapes in concrete ie. Concrete boats? Anyway my apprentice Brad Galagher and I did it and its lasted longer than I expected. It probably needs coating over by now. Things have changed and something like that could be sprayed concrete in one operation now as in free form concrete swimming pools."

Other bowls that are ultra wicked hardcore to the super max.

Devonport : real nice transitions, and coping, good range of sized stuff, has a drinking fountain, dries out quick.

Manakau: Lights all night, Heaps of funny tagging, everythings awesome, its huge.

Waihi (new bowl) : Very fast surface, small but heaps of fun.

Taupo : Needs no explanation.

Gissy : Nice figure 8's at the back, mini ramp/spine is fun , long grinders down big bank.

putaruru bowl kills, so much fun, extension is hella fun. fs airs to disasters and bodyjars rule on it.
taupo is better
manukau has too much open space
devonport gets kinda boring, nice bowled corner though

Now, Tekuiti bowl, thats fucking fun, small, but fun.

all those places are pootang (jokes) , BBZ is back up and running now, its fukin rad, its soooooo nice to finnaly have sum smooth ass ground to roll on instead of sum shitty coblestone-esque stuff that rips u apart if u slam, still waitng for one side of it to be opened but 3/4s of its complete, it gets a bit narley sumtimes though cause of the bowl in the middle u cant see round the othersides so pretty much everytime u roll in off a ramp u end up in a game of chicken with sumbody atempting to get to the same part of the park, and theres heaps of little criddlers around that think there too cool for the baddass new playground 20metres away(could u imagine the shitstorm if i decided i wanted to skate on the playground)
