its an alright place, i like it when they have bands there....but im not too keen on the friday and saturday nite music...

but its a pretty cosy little joint....it would be nice if they had like a purely punk/hardcore music nite, as apposed to the the shitty nu metal they ususally play there....

but gavins a cool guy and he offerd me a job there a while ago, so i dont have reason to diss the place

it could be worse though....it could be the beam bar urgghh!!! :x

I went once, (to hc/metal night) like two years ago I guess... and they played one turmoil song, and we were the only 6 people in there. Silly night anyways, viva la hardcore and all.

Nic, talking about what?!

Grivai,
Nah I'm driving Throwdown/Evil Priest... Those guys won't make it unless there's a wise driver like myself at the wheell (13 seater minibus!). Nicola, you would HATE the road, no shower/no bed/no sleep/smelly smelly boys being boys... Imagine George on his worst behaviour in a confined area for 10 hours straight... and then another ten back.

- yup, Gavin = top bloke.

Regardless of who's editor of Craccum, its' always been a shit house magazine. Why do the people that write for it feel they have to try and be offensive to be entertaining? Princess Luckys' column is a good reason as to why she has to be anonymous

What did you Auckland uni students think about the cartoon strips 'Boy Chef and Angry Mum' and 'Swears At Inopportune Times Boy' that were in Craccum this year.....I'm a co-author/co-illustrator y'see.....and I've heard both ultra-positive and ultra-negative feedback to my (and my esteemed colleague SUPERCRAZY's) ingenious creations.

Papa Jacks is my second home. Without it there I would be lost..... I would have nowhere to go....
I love Papa Jacks when all the lovely people are there(you know who you are), but it just isn't the same without them....
I'm a Papa Jacks regular, and I know that I'm not the only one so I don't really care, the madness that everyone gets up to in there makes it worth going in itself. It's GOOD times and if you went there and hung out then you would see just how much fun it really is.
After a few drinks I don't even care what music bomber plays because I'm with my friends.

oh shit i remember that place!
o.k kiddies...are you sitting comfortably? let me take you back to the summer of 1999/2000. if you'll remember, that summer was not only infamous for the millenium but also for the summer they introduced those 18+ cards.......
during all this fever i was holed up in a persimon orchard in the mecca that is pukekohe, franklin district. as the millenium turned out to be the only night i went out that summer i had no idea that i was going to need some kind of photo i.d. i was already 20 so i hadn't even thought about the possibility.
so....enter the magical night that was new years that summer. i was in auckland with one other friend from wellington.....we had no idea what was up anywhere, it was raining and jsut all round fucking terrible. no-one was letting my i.d-less ass in anywhere......that is until we stumbled across a magical place called papa jacks!! and what a classy place it was too! reminded us of our favourite place, barneys, back home in wellington.
we ended up spending most of the night out on queen street watching the auckland police and their shiney paddy wagons trying to actually CREATE a disturbance......ahhh memories

devon I'm down with you man - thank goodness that there are some people on this board that aren't stuck up there own asses ......
Lets face it Papas is about the only place to go in this shitty city unless there is a gig on ... I've seen heaps of you staunch punkas people there and strangely enough it looked like you were enjoying yourselves, god forbid. Papa Jacks holds no pretension you take it as you see it, oh isn't that what punk is? sure the tunes aren't 'hardcore' but it's better than listening to Nelly or repetitive beats.repetitive beats.repetitive beats.repetitive beats. repetitive beats. I'm down with the Jaxx until they stop letting you wear sneakers.
