Looking to start a Hardcore/Screamo/Emo band
Hey,
Just wondering If anyone in the Auckland area would be keen to start up a band,
I really want to try vocals, but I can play drums or guitar.
Some of my influences Include:
Defeater
Burn Her Letters
Envy
Funeral Diner
I Have Dreams
The Saddest Landscape
Saetia
Toru Okada
Yaphet Kotto
I hate myself
William Bonney
Snowing
Midwest Pen pals
I am based in Blockhouse bay and I know a great place in Henderson to jam (Prices are reasonable)
Thanks

Hey buddy, A person cannot be Emo...
That was just something MTV made up in 2006 to help promote shitty Metalcore bands, how about you do some research before you go around spouting your stupidass stereotypes around.
Emo STARTED from hardcore punk in the mid 80's and from 2000's onwards has been raped by record companies and MTV to promote their gay scenekids bands.

As much as I dig about half of those bands listed, I honestly don't think a band like this would do well in the local scene bro.

Nah I think the rest of your post proved that someone can be.
We've had the 90's emotive hardcore lecture on here about a thousand times, thanks but no thanks.

I don't think you should be throwing around the word rape like that

I'm offended, nails is offended, and I think I can safely say all of Punkas is offended.
I thought emo kids were meant to be sensitive about such issues. We're going to turn up to your gigs with Not OK signs now. That'll show you.

Anyway, 'real' emo is just called 'alternative rock' nowadays.

Dashboard confessional is true emo. Vindicated was genre defining.

at the drive in are the band that invented emo, anything before that was just hardcore with emotional vocals, it wasnt emo til atdi, i also really think creed and the smashing pumpkins are some really often overlooked pre-emo/emo-core influences.

Jawbox, Sunny Day Real Estate, Far, Fugazi I'd say were "Emo" back in the day before Emo(tional Hardcore) became a dirty word.
