where does the fast and double bass come into it??

seriously, though, if you'd be happy playing stuff like that you don't need someone who can play fast, doublebass. thuss giving you a wider range of people to choose from, or, at least a beter chance of a reply.

chur and good luck!

thanks man

From First to Last and Senses Fail use a bit of double bass and fast comes from the distillers/afi influence

I think some of the songs i've written would go well with double bass, but maybe not.

Update: might not need double bass, just depends how the songs sound without and how
good of a drummer you are.

If your band isn't ripping off blood for blood in any way you are wasting your time.

things didn't work out with the bass player i was originally starting the band with

basically you must:

-play bass or drums, love it and practise
-want to get a van and tour as much as possible
-practise at least twice a week

This man speaks words of wisdom. As far as I know the only double bassist that posts here is Ricky, and there's probably a fair few people that wish to involve him in their musical projects (I know, I'm one of them). Besides, if you want fast, you really do want an electric bass. As far as I'm aware, it's a lot easier to play fast runs on a bass guitar than double bass. That's because of the spacing between frets, precise fingering and so on. It can be pretty hardcore on your bassist too, I remember a certain show where Ricky's fingers were just shredded because of steel strings. I've heard of suffering for one's art, but this shit is brutal:

Image

Dre used to not play for Graveyard Rumble and Garage Fodder the same night for that very reason. Anyway, it's easier to transport an electric bass, cheaper to buy one and you can plug it into an amp/through effects without too much hassle. And there are a hell of a lot more bass guitarists out there, so you got better chances.

It might've also been actual bass.
