I'm being a patient, and waiting for it on the tele. I *say* being patient, I *mean* our broadband is budget, and I don't even bother *trying* to stream/d/l shows anymore. Fucking kill me now

It felt feature length that episode. So much packed in there, and the Doctor was a ruthless fucker and that's how I like him best.

Re: Doctor Who se07
Latest one was fucking great. This series is way better than the last half of the previous one. We're getting Angry Doctor On The Edge. It makes you wonder what happened to him for the 200+ years he went AWOL. Plus Matt Smith is fantastic. He's the youngest bloke ever to play the Doctor but at the same time manages to convey that he is now at his oldest and when he drops the bumbling fool routine comes across as more tired, more quick to anger, more conflicted and more dangerous than any of them apart from maybe the 6th and 7th but he does it more convincingly.

I like how they've put 6 in his expanded universe costume rather than that fucking clown outfit they had him in on telly.

I liked the cube one, that's the kind of ep that always gets me, lots of funny and weird and wtf moments. I like how the Ponds are in their 30s now. Sad though. Don't want next week. Been spoilerered but still, *I don't want them to go* :'(
But fuck yes, River Song! River needs a spin off! A sexy, violent spin off...

Rings of Akhaten was a fucking epic, and by far the best episode in ages. The Doctor's speech to the Old God was spine tingling, and Clara just gets better and better.

I girlcrushed hard over Clara almost instantly. And she goes out with Robb Stark IRL, which makes for pleasant mental imagery...

Cold War:
Fucking awesome seeing the Ice Warriors back. What really caused my nerd boner to become particularly tumescent was how much background information from the expanded universe got brought in to flesh with the portrayal of Skaldac. The Ice Warriors haven't been seen on screen since the early '70s and I was impressed that instead of giving them a complete reboot, existing if obscure source material was used. It served to introduce the Ice Warriors to a new generation and also provide a good bit of extra for experts for the anoraks.
The tension in this episode was played really well too. One of the classic old school Doctor Who tropes is the base under siege and this is about the best I've seen it played in the new series. It helps that Matt Smith bases his version of the Doctor on Troughton so much, who in my opinion did even more to set up a template for the character even more so than Hartnell before him. Without Troughton setting the stage with his irreverent, anarchic yet authoritative performances, sadly of which few remain, there would have been nothing for the likes of Tom Baker and Sylvester McCoy to reference later. Here I think Smith channeled Troughton so effectively that despite the fact everything in this looked fucking awesome, I could also enjoy it just as well as if it was the second Doctor in black & white with wobbly sets.
Also, the Russian professor into '80s synth pop was a standout.
Despite the usual grumbles from that certain specimen of Comic Book Store sub-specimen of geek every time a new episode comes out, and that other sub-set who have been emotionally wounded ever since the Doctor-Rose thing got chucked out (and rightfully so 'cos it was fucking irritating), I think Doctor Who is going from strength to strength these days.
EARTH WILL BECOME THE SECOND RED PLANET! RED WITH THE BLOOD OF HUMANITY!
