Dexter - 5x

Postby snuff » Tue Jul 13, 2010 10:28 pm

Starts Sept 26th.

And Peter Weller has just been cast...

Peter Weller has joined the cast of the fifth season of Showtime’s Dexter. Weller is best known as the title character from the RoboCop movies and Buckaroo Banzai from The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension.
According to Deadline, Weller will be playing “a troubled Miami Metro police officer who gets caught up in an internal affairs investigation.” The actor will appear in eight of the twelve episodes. And yes, many will make the connection that his Buckaroo Banzai co-star John Lithgow appeared on last season, earning Emmy and Golden Globe nominations.
Previously:
Shawn Hatosy (Southland) will be in a ‘multi-episode arc’ on the show, though we don’t know who he’s playing. EW’s source says his role is ‘a bad guy,’ and that’s all we’ve got for now.
Maria Doyle Kennedy, formerly of The Tudors, is joining the show as a nanny hired by Dexter.
Jonny Lee Miller (Dade Murphy/’Crash Override’/'Zero Cool’ in the 1995 film Hackers, Sick Bot in Trainspotting, and Simon Sheppard in Dracula 2000) will have multiepisode arc, which will have him playing “a mysterious man who ends up tangled in a storyline with Julia Stiles.”

First John Lithgow and now Peter Weller. This show is like a who's who of awesome cunts.

Yeah i feel a bit the same....everything starts to get slightly too ridiculous, too many reckless decisions etc that just happen to turn out ok.

Same deal as weeds which seems to suck a bit now.

But i am hopeful. How could Dexter be wrong?

"kids - there's something I gotta tell ya..." in personalized Dexter mickey mouse ears was pure gold

I reckon they're playing (and hopefully gonna continue to play) the whole serial-killer emotion/less thing real well in this...

Fucked up

An Indiana teenager who admitted he strangled his 10-year-old brother and told police he identified with TV serial killer Dexter has been sentenced to life in prison without parole.

Andrew Conley, 18, showed no emotion as a judge sentenced him for the November 28 murder of his brother Conner.

Judge James Humphrey could have sentenced Conley to life in prison without parole or to a lesser term of 45 to 65 years. But Judge Humphrey said on Friday Conley's age outweighed any other factors such as mental illness.

Conley could not have faced the death penalty because he was 17 when he killed his brother.

In a chilling video played during a five-day sentencing hearing last month, Conley calmly described how he killed Conner while wrestling with the boy at their home in southern Indiana.

Yeah, this is the third season in a row that started slowly and then gathered steam. They clearly need a bit of time to position all the new supporting characters - in this case now we've got the babysitter, Peter Weller and Julia Stiles...plus how the hell this Fuentes Brothers case impacts it all.

I think the Fuentes Brothers case is just a plot device to introduce tension between Angel, Maria and the head of police, whatever his name is. I'm sure at the end, to save her name and the case etc. they will catch the other brother and probably kill him, thereby saving her job and reputation.

I hope it does tie in to Dexter's plot in some way, though. Because otherwise, who gives a shit? What makes the programme different from the other zillion cop dramas is that the lead character is a serial killer - it's called Dexter, so make it about Dexter.

Just some background detail is dull if it doesn't ultimately affect the foreground.

Hopefully they will, I guess it still has a half a dozen episodes to go. I'm just looking forward to that smug tony robbins dude getting fucked up. I'm assuming he'll be last.

Angelina Jolie's ex? Yeah, I think it's funny that the two villains we were introduced to were played by English actors.

EVEN WHEN THEY'RE PLAYING AMERICANS, THE ENGLISH ARE STILL THE BAD GUYS!

Don't know why Dexter just doesn't introduce Julia Stiles as his new girlfriend. Then she can live with him, cover for him, be an excuse for being out at night and so on. And not be suspicious when he's seen with her.

Also, is Harry the most annoying character in television (that isn't played by Charlie Sheen)? "Oh, Dexter. THAT was a bad thing to do, wasn't it? You're really in trouble now." FUCK UP, DAD, YOU'RE DEAD.
