I don't care how vomit inducing the 3d is, the story looks fucking shit.

This thing only a few days away. Gonna check out at IMAX wednesday night. Havent done IMAX since I was nine or some shit. If the screen doesnt walk up and punch me in the face, itll be a bit of disappointment... So yeah, Expecting some cheezeball dialogue, and a tired story, but some pretty eye popping stuff visually. Early reviews starting to come in, for those that put stock in that kind of stuff.

I have a wanky filmhead friend who's seen it. Reckoned the 3D was amazing and the story was very family oriented. No more details from him as yet. Probably be a 6/10 I'd say.

if you like epic sci-fi adventure escapism type movies then you'll like this. definitely worth $12 (or is it more like $15).

kinda get the feeling this is gonna be a bit like when iD Software release a game running their latest engine. A largely wamp-wah tech demo that other people will adapt and do more awesome things with down the line.

it's like $18 to see in 3D at Readings here apparently. I'm so not psyched on this film at all, but I'll go see it like every other muppet. Only time I really feel like going to the flicks these days is if there's a bit of novelty factor to the proceedings.

Went yesterday, eyes burned for about an hour but after that was pretty sweet. VFX was fucking crazy, story was so cringe, was actually just Fern Gully.

Went and saw it tonight with my dad and my brother at READING CINEMA Wellies. Fucking loved the 3D buzz. Yes, story was cringe as but still enjoyable.

Saw Fuzz walking around Reading Cinema there but accidentally yelled out Face.

The CG and design were mint, the story was pants. The real challenge for Cameron now is much more pants he can make it over the forthcoming 3 sequels he's planning.

Still haven't seen the film.
But would love it if some media students could answer this question - Is Avatar having a political impact (re. the recent demonstrations in the Middle East where protestors dressed up as characters from Avatar) ?

Cheers for the link.

What makes me gag is that James Cameron will be loving this.
And making grand amounts of money from it.

I saw it only because everyone was like 'wahahah it's so amazing and you HAVE to see it in 3d' . I got quite bored by the end, way too long for my attention span. Story line was a way too predictable and boring for my liking but I guess you get that with these sorts of films.

Coolest part for me was the awesome mountain landscapes which I just read were modelled on this place: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Huang . Want to climb up here with some Jim Morrison. Image

Went and saw Avatar recently with no idea what it was about except hearing the storyline was a bit basic. totally had the dances with Wolves vibe and apparently its an even closer match with Pocahontas (havn't seen that)

totally rate it though. Worth the $20 to see it on imax in the 3d and I never go to the movies so that's saying something I guess

also the giant blue chick was hot. the end.

Finally watched this load of shit. Would summerize it thus:

Less visually impressive than this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UD_nNXWbSw (few years difference I know but this is a fucking video game)
    'Indigenous' peoples stereotypes
    Ripley died and no xenomorphs???
Battle of Endor too long and Chewie didn't hijack any walkers
    Alien sex scene too short
Marines and vehicles from Aliens interpreted by a 12-year-old
    Jaem Camron pls
