What have you recently watched?
Re: What have you recently watched?
Fair enough but I'm kinda like don't make me do the fuckin work, Dave. Story-telling is the director's job, I don't want to still be trying to figure out their wank once the credits have are rolling.

Re: What have you recently watched?
it was fun.

Ip Man Legacy - fantastic fight scenes with Tony Jaa, Michelle Yeoh and Dave Bautista.
Bumblebee - probably the first Transformers movie which get the transformation right on film.

Dopesick Nation on vice, 2 recovering addicts trying to help junkies in Florida. She literally saves a guy's life on camera in this episode.

Alita: Battle Angel
This film appropriately transform manga to film. The art direction and visuals are stunning, and the characters are well-developed. The actors/voices are great. But the story seems somewhat forced at times. Overall, this is very likeable.

Re: What have you recently watched?
Recently watched one million movies and tv shows on Singapore airlines flying to europe and back here were my highlights (in order)
1. Green Book (a little bit cliche and cheesy but still a touching tale.
2. Capote (really addictive watch, will read book asap)
3. The old man and the gun (almost fell inlove with the charming clepto myself)
4. No activity (hilarious aussie tv show)
5. 15 shorts ( 15 short films from Singapore, true stories , pretty dark shit but good watch)
I also watched an embarrassing drama series i will never disclose (disclose is a shit bans) and the Great Gatsby which is a rather bizarre pile of shit .
I also watched the entirety of After Life with Ricky Gervais when i was recovering from jetlag yesterday. I usually find ricky painful after two episodes, but this show was quite amusing.

its good.
Re: What have you recently watched?
I watched Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. I liked the slow burning part of it but Tarantino's 'alternate history' irks me. It's as if his thing now is just lifting scenarios from the past and bashing adolescent fantasies into them. I found the ending jarring and difficult to process because it deviates so suddenly.

Re: What have you recently watched?
It was a bit slow but I started to appreciate slow films at some point. Eg. I was surprised I found something to like about Sunshine State, which isn't 3 hours long but sure feels like it.
Although something wrong's when I was checking the time 2 hours into a movie like The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, wondering when something's going to happen. And I didn't like Beyond the Black Rainbow as it's slow but under 2 hours. meaning bugger all happens.
Just watched The Wild One, classic as fuck and pretty funny.

Save Me - great British drama about a South London guy who couch surfs and womanises, and is accused of kidnapping the daughter he hasn't seen in 10 years. Lennie James (might know him from Snatch, and The Walking Dead series) is brilliant and the supporting cast are excellent too.

this was good fun
Re: What have you recently watched?
Damn, Lori shot herself. I haven't been this upset about a fictional character's death since Wallace in The Wire. Keep an eye on that name, Emily Meade, she's brilliant.

Heavy. Pretty good though.

Same here. Mind you I haven't seen anything new of hissing a while, but that's kinda what's put me off. Also seems like his movies are a bit bloated these days. I recall one of the awesome things about Jackie Brown being that it was nice and lean.Dead Kid wrote:Tarantino's 'alternate history' irks me. On a vaguely similar note, I went and saw Jojo Rabbit with the missus recently. I reckon they pulled it off. Good tunes, good dose of humanity but not sappy, really good ending. And some great characters, Sam Rockwell's was my favourite.

Also pretty cool to see a movie about Nazi Germany that you could take a kid to go see. I sure a lot of people wouldn't, and fair enough, but I feel like it'd be thought-provoking in the right way for kids of a certain age.

Re: What have you recently watched?
a few days ago Star Wars Episode 8. Tomorrow Episode 9 and i´m looking forward to watch The mandalorian
Re: What have you recently watched?
I took my son to see Jojo Rabbit - great to see the third reich being treated like the absurdity it was. A remarkable movie by a great director.
Re: What have you recently watched?
Coffee and Cigarettes. Way more entertaining than expected, not that I'd really contemplated what to expect in advance. Every segment had something funny in it. Jack/Meg White was a bit dumb but Alfred Molina/Steve Coogan was particularly hilarious.

Anyone seen the new Suzi Quatro documentary? She always struck me as particularly cool. Very quick with the wit.
