Aliens travel across the galaxy to inhabit an "unoccupied" earth after their system goes supernova only to find out we're actually pretty advanced now, they have talks about settling and then all their ships blow up and the whole earth is terraformed accidently and it all goes to hell in a war for 15 years. 15 years on from that there is a city, defiance, with a bunch of aliens and humans and a whole bunch of shit is happening all the time. It's pretty good, or at least I'm enjoying it so far (half way through the first and only seasons so far just today). I have a thing for sci fi though.

I've only seen the first three episodes but I really enjoyed it. Plus that alien cat lady with the knives is sexy as fuck.

Also watching Falling Skies, aliens invade earth, lay waste to all the armies, cities etc. with neutron bombs and force everyone to fight for their lives. Militias form to protect civilians and they basically struggle through battles to survive etc etc. Pretty sold sci fi again, even more so than Defiance I think. Speilberg created, so awesome special effects too, super convincing. Three seasons too, so there is a fair bit to watch (im three episodes into season three).

Couldn't get into Falling Skies, never made it past the kind of crappy ending to Season 1.

Second and third seasons were definitely stronger, although the end of season 1 becomes quite significant in later episodes.

Might check it out if I run out of other stuff then, maybe if the new season of Homeland is crap.

Started watching Attack on Titan, best anime I have seen for a while.

Is homeland good? I saw a few episodes of 24 and thought it was awful, and heard comparisons between that and homeland.

Pretty cool so far.

If you're gonna watch any season of 24, make sure its season 5. Easily the best season. Totally hanging for the mini series next year.

I didn't like 24 at all but enjoyed Homeland, the stressed out blonde having meltdowns all the time and making TERRIBLE decisions kept me entertained.

Is that the one where he beats up the muslims, or the one with the ridiculous plot twists, or maybe the one where he almost single handedly saves the world from catastrophe?

Aint gonna happen.

24 is awesome.

Homeland is great if you can get past Claire Danes fucking constant sook face.

Falling Skies started weak, got great, and then S3 just jumped the shark at the end.

Also...

Under the Dome is getting real good.

New season of Strike Back is mean so far.

Suits is keeping the pace although could go either way.

And Newsroom keeps getting better and better.

Saw this a while ago. That shit is fuckin BANANAS.

Haven't watched anything in the last little while - got The Reluctant Fundamentalist last night, gonna give it a blat tonight.

edit: Actually I finally got round to watching Pusher 3 a couple of nights ago. Good film. Still think the first is the most tense - I didn't like 2 as much because Tonny fucks me off as a character. Almost dl'd and watched the remake of the first one for shits and giggles but I thought better of it. Also went and saw This Is The End a couple weeks back, that was pretty krackupz - Danny McBride most definitely stole the show though.

Elysium - directed by Neil Blomkamp (District 9)
Great gritty-futuristic setting/imagery, mean villain, realistic social commentary about refugees, borders/segregation and availability of healthcare etc.
A very good film, but short of District 9, due to less originality and more flaws in the story/plot

I watched some doco about the human body on Prime(peasant)TV, that provoked a more visceral reaction in me than any horror movie has in the last twenty years. ARRGH FUCK, WE ARE *GROSS*

AND *HAWT* :O

Also watched some sweet docos about Pleistocene megafauna. That was *cool*.

To be honest, thought it was pretty average. Underuse of Michael Caine, felt like Morgan Freeman's character was totally pointless.

Image

This was pretty cool, lots of cool stories from DEA, and ex-DEA etc. Worth watching.

Image

Finally finished watching all of Fringe. Was pretty hooked by the middle of the 2nd season, and was awesome seeing lots of Lost alumni popping up in various places. Pretty awesome conclusion as well. Dont think it would ever make a top 10 list, but definitely worth time invested.

I didn't mind it, but it was kinda disappointing compared to how awesome it looked on the trailers. Maybe if they'd made it into a 2 part movie so that stuff made more sense, and the characters got more time to actually develop? It felt pretty rushed, which was a shame because I liked the concept, and most the characters/actors were pretty cool/likeable.

Hooned all of Strike Back up to date in the last week and a half. It's ridiculous, but awesome. Enjoying it. Shoot baddies; get the girl. Then shoot more baddies.

First season was definitely its finest. Now it's laughable. But entertaining nonetheless. Rad firefights, plenty of blood and titillating sexual scenes. (yayor)

Agreed, brunette is awesome. Watched the first ep last night, but struggling with how vapid/yuppie the main character and her fiance are. I realise that's kinda the point, but I still want to kick them half the time.
