Trick r' Treat
Image
The tales of Halloween come alive in 5 interwoven mini stories, delivered in a style similar to "Tales from the Crypt".

I liked the Inbetweeners movie, why so many haters?

As a stand-alone, the movie would be empty and crap. As a continuation, it just betrays the series. The 'plot' was written for the 'hollwood mainstream' and loses all appeal.
They are not supposed to 'get the girl', and there should not be a "happy ending", only endless rejections. Basically I can't tell this apart from American Pie.

Deadwood rules. Been watching season 1 and 2 of justified over the last couple of weeks, Olyphant is awesome.

I fucking hated this movie.

re -cancer movies, I fucking hate them. Lucy and I have this real problem of starting to watch a movie (without watching much of the trailer, because those fucking things actually show you the ENTIRE movie these days) and then BAM turns out to be a cancer movie. So fucking annoying.

Derek - Ricky Gervais playing a character you don't want to hate or make fun of, even though you would want to otherwise, because he's genuinely nice and relatable and sweet. I really liked the pilot, and the first episode, and am interested in where it's going to go. It's like he forgot how to be an arsehole.

I finally bothered to persevere with Boardwalk Empire, just got through S02E02 and fuck I am glad I did so...

Also recently watched....
Django Unchained: meh. next.
Seven Psychopaths: pretty crackupz
Safety Not Guaranteed: moderate lulz, pretty cute story ... was kind of wierd when the main dude turned up in...
Zero Dark Thirty: rubbish. Didn't know Bert Macklin was in SEAL Team Six.
West of Memphis: which did a nice job of summarising everything Paradise Lost 1 & 2 did, meanwhile covering later developments in the case. Presents some prettttttty damning evidence against Terry Hobbs. What a fucking piece. Still reckon Mark Byer is a crackupz cunt though.
Wolf Creek: a lot more irritating the second time through...

Boardwalk Empire just gets better and better. You have total war to look forward to at the end of S03.

Finally West of Memphis has been torrented. Downloading now.

Smashed through the first season and a half of this over the last few days, pretty good shit, but has anyone seen it and think that the similarities to the basic plot of Twin Peaks are undeniable? Are they taking the piss? Anywhos, still good.

Ace Attorney
Image
A courtroom drama directed by Takashi Miike!? This is too fantastic and outrageous to be true. A stylistic adaptation of a video game set in a
futuristic courtroom where trials are treated like entertainment. Phoenix Wright face off against a ruthless prosecutor who never lost a case.

Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter
Image
Haunted by the death of his mother, Abraham Lincoln learns the craft of vampire hunting to seek revenge. He also seeks political office
and campaigns to abolish slavery. Both worlds collide during the civil war as Lincoln battles against the vampire-aided Confederate forces...

Yeah this is great TV. It's originally a Danish series, which is meant to be even better. Enjoyed this very much though.

Silver Linings Playbook
Image
A feel-good romantic comedy from the director of The Fighter and I love Huckabees. Great performances in a contrived Hollywood plot.

80s BBC sci fi was the fucking tits. The practical effects are great.

I've been watching this series. It's fucking great.

3 eps into this myself. Fuck it's good, Frank Underwood is the fucking man. Those sly little asides are so good.

That bit with the homeless maniac was priceless. "Nobody can hear you. Nobody cares about you. Nothing will come of this."
