I did finish it. I just felt that the second half lacked the direction and novelty of the first half. I still enjoyed it, but in a kinda depressing way.

Yeah, Un Chien Andalou was him and Dali. Bunuel is the master, those four are my favourites, I'd start with any of those if you are so inclined. Viridiana and Belle de Jour are great too.

The Wraith
Silly 80s flick about a teen who returns from the dead to wreak vengeance on the gang who killed him. Of course, he comes back as a black-clad helmeted mute who drives a black, indestructible turbo Interceptor. Charlie Sheen woodenly plays the teen the rest of the time and doesn't really seem to care much about the movie. In fact, nobody does and it seems mostly focussed on the road-race driving scenes. Dull.



Brotherhood of the Wolf
Rewatched this and didn't like it as much as the first time. Seemed more style than substance. I did do a review last time (viewtopic.php?f=4&t=3860) but just mentioned this as an excuse to post that Monica Bellucci/hills gif.

Struggling to make ends meet for his wife and young son, an ex-soldier and his mate take on a series of jobs as hitmen. But it quickly becomes apparent that he has been marked, singled-out for some kind of purpose as his victims thank him and strange happenings begin to occur as his own rage overflows.

A slow-build of a drama overflows into a full-on horror flick with lashings of recession social commentary. Great atmosphere and acting give it all weight. Great stuff.

Missed it at the film festival, so it was good to catch up with it on DVD.

Contagion - Enjoyed this more than expected, the hundreds of stories were well balanced except for Jude Law's one which didn't really come to much at the end..

A Lonely Place To Die - 4 Hikers / Moutainclimbers discover a girl buried alive in Scotland and are subsequently hunted. Kinda ridiculous thriller, shot in some beautiful locations, nothing really groundbreaking though, but an alright watch.

Thought the movie was sweet, over the top in all the right places.

Just saw Fincher's "Dragon Tattoo" film - even after avoiding the original and the book like the plague this was still pretty fucking average. Left feeling I'd sat through enough product placement (Coke/Mickey D's/Apple/Marlborofuckingcigarettes)I should've been payed for the privilege of watching it.

Yeah, I was a bit disappointed by Land, but Diary and Survival made it look like fuckin' Citizen Kane.



Klovn
When loser Frank finds out his girlfriend is pregnant, but plans on leaving him and getting an abortion because she thinks he'd make a terrible father, he decides to kidnap his 12-year-old nephew to take him on a canoe trip. Unfortunately, the canoe trip is one selected by his mate as 'Tour de Pussy'. Cue Frank getting kicked out of a bordello for being too ugly, having to stick his finger up the bum of a woman while his mate is shagging her and trying to help his nephew come to terms with having a tiny nob.

Pretty funny - although some of the set-ups feel forced (such as when Frank's mates tell him the way to show affection for his girlfriend is to wank off on her while she is sleeping). There are rumours of a US release, but that would be tricky in its present form (which includes one-upping the graphic factor of the end of The Hangover).
