The new Star War is pretty good. Some big flaws but fun enough to probably get me coming back for another hoon at the movies. It hasn't got shit on Rogue One though.

I've seen it a few times now. It's okay, but actually also quite shit. Here's a few reasons why:

- So many cheesy attempts at producing cheap laughs. Felt like 'Star Wars of the Caribbean'. Yuck.
- 2yrs after the biggest cliffhanger in SW history we see Luke flippantly toss his lightsaber over his shoulder.
- First Order went from having one planet (which got destroyed) to running the whole galaxy.
- First Order Fleet chases instead of destroys?
- A single X-Wing can destroy the defenses of a Dreadnought.
- Why didnt Kylo notice Luke projection.
- 'Knights of Ren' dropped?
- Kylo Ren & Vader relationship dropped?
- Luke is clearly more of a whiny little bitch than ever.
- Rey has perfect lightsaber technique with no training.
- Snoke doesnt know his ship can track the enemy.
- Yoda looks different, and can control lighting.
- Why did the Porgs leave the island and go in the Millenium Falcon with Chewie?
- That terrible fucking animal with four tits that Luke milks.
- Did Phasma die?
- On the casino planet the first roulette player the camera flies over is the most plastic looking piece of shit character in all the movies.
- Why did they need to contact Maz Kanata just to find out how to get aboard a ship, and why was she enduring a "union dispute" gunfight?
- The saying "we're running on fumes" is used which references internal combustion engines.
- Snokes was powerful enough to 'link' the minds of Rey and Ben, but couldn't just mindread his way into knowing the Jedi's every move?
- Snokes then goes on to say he is reading Kylo's thoughts but why didn't he see the lightsaber about to fuck him up?
- If Luke went to the island to die why did he leave a map with R2D2 so that the resistance could find him?
- Why wasn't Leia propelled off after the explosion because of the vacuum of space? She just stopped along with debris until she came to, then used her force powers to fly back inside. I can't even. Holy shit. It was nice to confirm that she has been 'one with the force' all along but it was SO bad.
- Rey happens to be at correct spot to save everyone and lifts all rocks with no training. VERY lacking her character development as supposedly the most powerful jedi ever.
- Why was Finn saved? His kamikaze run would've been the best thing in the movie.
- Why was Finn hurt if it has no ramifications?
- Rey is not related to any of them after all and is actually from a peasant upbringing.
- Why can Luke suddenly appear to be in a place even though he's elsewhere? He touched Leia and gave her those gold dice so it's telekinesis? Another previously unknown jedi skill? This is reaching full blown magical airy-fairy bullshittery right now.
- Why did Luke die?
- Finn and Rose?!?! You can take the whole
- The writers didn't pay enough homage to the canon and culture of the films let alone the fans. It felt... Disney.

Definitely isn't the "best so far". I still love Star Wars.

Admittedly I liked it a lot more after the second time as I wasn't so shocked by the cringey parts. A scene a lot of people hate is the prank call but I have to admit I laughed at that. The porgs and that milking scene can still fuck off though.

I've been reading and listening to a lot of discussion about it and I find myself coming to like it more the more I think about it. I still think the whole thing needed a serious edit, cut 10-20 minutes out of every arc and massively reshoot the Finn/Rose arc. The point of the code breaker section is to expose Finn to the real world, he's only left the First Order in the last 96ish hours, and then demonstrate his growth as a character by having him try to escape initially then try to sacrifice himself at the end. That said, hack out the entire stupid llama/goat/dog race, most of the casino section and ditch the return of Phasma.
Same with Rey and Luke fartarsing about the island. We don't need that level of details into Luke's life imo. It's more important to see how he failed Kylo and how that's affected him. And all the mind-link shit from Snoke was necessary to set up Luke's ghost move at the end but fuckkkk they could have trimmed that significantly too.
Also, I really liked the way they offed Snoke. To me it was clear that he was accurately reading what Kylo was intending/doing but not realising he was doing it with both the force and his real lightsaber. They had to off Snoke given he was a big bad with no back story and no way to fill that in. He was a plot contrivance to set up Kylo as the final villain of the trilogy. A sith always kills their master right?

TLDR: It was good, imo.

I've disagree with a few of your points but these two stick out.

I was into the Dreadnought bit. There's a lot about the space battles in Star Wars that's retarded, like for example, you can hear noises, for fucks sake. A lot of silly shit I can let fly, AS LONG as it there's good that comes of it. Watching Poe be a sick cunt and pwning those TIE fighters was mean and watching the First Order cunts have a fucking meltdown because of it was sweet. It's not just an X-wing, it's an X-wing with like the gnarliest fighter ace in the galaxy in the cockpit. But come to think of it, the scene might've been better had the attack failed. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Using the expression "running on fumes" is fine. The Star Wars scripts are riddled with shit like that. It's not supposed to be a realistic science fiction, it's not really a science fiction at all, and besides, the notion that internal combustion engines do exist in the galaxy isn't that wacky.

Things I didn't like:

    - Finn didn't pwn himself.
    - Rose is a pretty meh character.
    - Captain Phasma is a neglected character. We should at least get to see her really wailing on some resistance cunts. How good was that bit in Rogue One where Vader fucks up a bunch of rebellion fighters. Instead she gets defeated in a way nearly as disappointing as when Obi Wan turns Anakin into Shit Lieutenant Dan.
    - Those AT-AT 2: Electric Boogaloo walkers look shit and they did fuck all. That whole Hoth on a salt lake scene was bit of a shitshow really.
The First Order overall is a bit crap. Everything they use is just an updated version of some shit the Empire had. We've already seen mediocre versions of the stormtrooper armour in the clone troops in the prequels. Design some fresh shit you cunts. The blue TIE fighters are all good though. The Elite Praetorian guard shouldn't have that stupid muscly man armour. Just give them cloaks like the Royal Guards. The Royal Guards looked perfect, they should be pretty much the same cult of Sith bodyguards and their getup and weapons should only change slightly.

But no Star Wars sequel will ever be what I think it should be. The main problem is that it doesn't one-up The Force Awakens. This one should've been better, but it's about the same.

Pretty sure those and the frog dwarf people on the Island were done by Jim Henson's creature work shop eh? Haven't checked the credits but the look it. Yoda definitely was again, and voiced by Frank Oz. He must be getting fuckin old by now.

All that shit looked fantastic. And Luke's livin on an island in the middle of nowhere on a planet in the middle of nowhere. I'd end up getting up to way grosser stuff. I didn't notice Yoda looking different like Tim mentioned, but I need a re-watch.

There's just something great about good puppetry. Bad puppetry too:

He looked like a slightly tidier version of the old Yoda, with grey frizzy hair, from the original trilogy. Not majorly different. Pretty sure he was an on set puppet to. He looked solid, just glowing white.

I particularly liked the wide shot at the end of that scene where it's just him and Luke sitting together, in the bottom centre of the screen, backs turned watching the tree burn. There were some other great wide shots in the movie. Luke at the end squaring off with Kylo Ren looked awesome with a semi pan effect.

Also, Apparently the Jedi Library wasn't in the tree. You never see it burn. Rey had apparently smuggled the books onto the Millennium Falcon. I didn't see it, but there is apparently a brief scene at the end where Finn opens a draw or compartment to get something and you see them there.
