Week of Peace

Week of Peace

Kia ora! Talofa Lava! Ni hao! As-Salaam-Alaikum! Hello to all our Peace friends,
PEACE BLOCKADE SUCCESS
The peace blockade of the weapons expo yesterday was an amazing success. We blockaded the entire building for 7 hours, ensuring that hundreds of delegates could not get in. Amazing courageous people put themselves in the way of the war business to stop it. Thank you to everyone who made the day possible!
WEEK OF PEACE ROLLS ON…

Wall of Noise – tonight 6pm at the Viaduct Events Centre
On the second day of the Weapons Expo (Thurs, 17/11), we will be targeting the awards ceremony and gala dinner happening inside with our own Wall of Noise outside. We encourage people to come along with noisemakers, instruments, banners and placards – and help to drown out the weapons dealers party happening inside. We want these death merchants to know that war is not a party, and making money from war is abhorrent. Facebook event here.:

Peace Flotilla on the Waitematā Harbour
Saturday, 19 November 12:30-2:30
We will be meeting from 12.30pm in the harbour and surrounding the navy ships that will be lined up there, stationary, from 12.30pm-2.30pm. Jump on a boat, kayak or other floating vessel and join the peacemaking fun. Facebook event here

Grannies for Peace -“Make Tea…Not War” celebration,
Sunday 20th November, 1.00pm-2.00pm
Are you a real Granny? A pretend Granny? A Tranny Granny? Granny's helper or a bearded Granny?
Everyone is welcome to get dressed up in Granny-type finery to send a colourful, peaceful message to the Government that we don’t want foreign warships visiting our peaceful waters, and neither do we want Arms Fairs held in our lovely City of Peace. Forge Swords into Ploughshares and Guns into Zimmer frames! Bring thermoses, thermettes, scones and sandwiches to munch. We will also be joined for a sing song of our favourite peace songs led by the 'Ukes Not Nukes" group at 1.30pm, song sheets provided. Meet @ The Cloud, Queen’s Wharf, Auckland Waterfront, (meet just outside the ferry terminal in the seated picnic area next to the 'Pou'/Māori totem poles). Come suitably dressed. Facebook event here

Prayers for Peace
Sunday 20 Nov 1:30pm outside Holy Trinity Church
Join us as we acknowledge and honour the victims of war and those who have conscientiously objected to war service. We’ll be gathering for prayers at 1.30pm and will start a short service at 2pm. There will be songs and prayers as we reflect on how we all hold some responsibility for the conflicts we see in our world. We will ask God to make clear to us how we can bring peace into our homes, our communities and our world. All are welcome. These prayerful events will coincide with the Royal NZ Navy 75th Anniversary church service being held in the cathedral. Facebook event here

The Week of Peace Actions have inspired other groups to hold peace events.
March for Peace.
Saturday 19 November, 2pm-4pm
Aotea Square to Britomart
Say NO to War! Organised by People for Peace. Facebook here.

Thanks again everyone for building this amazing peace movement - let's keep the energy & organising going.

In solidarity & with love,

the Auckland Peace Action crew

Looks more to be a week of violence!!

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/news/artic ... d=11748962

"Protest against defence industry conference turns violent in Auckland"

You wont have as many navy ships to protest against, they're helping out the victims of the earthquake...

So if you're against 'War' what would be your solution to ISIS? Try staging a protest in Mosul...

We all want peace, you just need to realise that our troops have to kill afew bad guys first.
i say all islamic people are welcome, just leave your fuckin shitty religion at the door.

while it might be true that the protesters havnt really thought through what they are protesting, clearly it was police and security who were violent, not the protesters.

Also I'm sure its understood that some military are needed, but when the industry is geared to perpetuate war, not end it, they can eat a bag of dicks

There's a time and a place for violence,
at a peaceful protest:wrong time and place,
Killing infidels in Iraq:right time and place.

Its not rocket science.
