SUBHUMANS (UK) NZ + OZ Tour Sept 2012

Postby NOIDEAWOTEVER » Fri Mar 30, 2012 11:01 am

Punk Rock Road Trips and Minovation present
SUBHUMANS (UK) Australia and New Zealand Tour 2012

September 2012 welcomes the arrival of a defining name of 1980s British Punk Rock: SUBHUMANS. This will be the band’s first-ever-Australasian tour and features the 1981 line-up of Dick, Trotsky, Bruce and Phil that recorded their debut EP “Demolition War” in 1981 and classic albums such as ‘The Day The Country Died’ and were an integral part of the UK anarcho-punk scene.

Since reforming in 1998, SUBHUMANS have released a live album for the infamous Fat Wreck Chords, a new set of studio tracks, ‘Internal Riot’ on the band’s own Bluurg label, as well playing to packed venues throughout the world including headlining festivals such as Rebellion.

“”Frontman Dick Lucas is totally engaging. There is a fierce intelligence here in his lyrics, his delivery and his between song banter where his passion for the old school punk political hits home. They play fast and there is a wild, feral energy to what they do. They have this punk rock thing so honed down, so perfect – the fluidity of the rhythm section, mind boggling brilliant bass lines from Phil to let yourself go to and Trotsky’s stop start drums that never settle for a boring 4/4 when something more exciting will do are so effective. Bruce’s rasping punk rock guitar completes the perfect backdrop for Dick’s passionate delivery – he works himself up into a sweatshod frenzy as the band hit the stage in top gear and never leave that level of intensity. If you still need any proof of the intelligence and anti establishment smarts in punk rock then the Subhumans are still out there, still meaning something and still making sense in a senseless world.”

No worries Sam I can't wait for this!! Subhumans are one of my all time fav bands and they blew me away when I first got my hands on their Demolition War cassette demos from Real Groovy Records in the early 1980's. Not long after that time my Dad went to England and bought me back a bunch of their 7" ep's and I was hooked and have been a massive fan ever since, probably in my top 5 all time bands I reckon. Good times indeedy!!

It used to be pretty dero but apparently it's been done up quite a bit in recent times. Are you in Sydney now Mitch? I'm curious if you have you checked it out lately.

Yeah dude I'm living here now. And it's totally a dump but me and Hugh drink there every weekend pretty much and it's all good. Seen some pretty dope shows upstairs, think Leatherface played there a while back. Dunno what kind of state it used to be in but sort of a crappier Royal steez if you can imagine. Good as sound though. Look forward to catching up anyway g.

Had a drink at the Sando last month, was a pretty great place. Def' get the royale reference. Any place with an old punk named 'Carcass' has to be great, right?

Looking forward to this show, good work Tim!

Hey George did those CDs arrive?

Subhumans playing in NZ. Playing in Dunedin even. Literally danced a jig round the kitchen. Seriously considering going to all four gigs, but maybe i'm still a bit overexcited. First heard them when i got the "Live in Warminster, with Steve L" tape from an old Wellington distro called "Legion Tapes." Thrashed the fuck out of that old dog and it lasted until about 5 years ago. Be great to meet these guys, and see Trotsky play the drums live.

still traumatised after all these years by that night. It was facing down the bootgirl who was trying to start fights so the boys could jump in, and who was as thick as pigshit that freaked me. That and trying to make sure no one had been dragged outside...

Not sure why the conversation has drifted in this direction but there's gonna be security at all shows anyway, so if any dickhead tries any aggro shit they won't get far. Plus myself (and I'm sure the rest of my regular crowd) will be watching out for any numb nut idiots too. I'm def over that kind of bollocks these days and am not gonna put up with anyone trying to ruin it for others...

Sorry, just nostalgerising - you are right, the Citizen Fish tour was bloody awesome, and shouldn't dwell on the bollocks.

Subhumans is going to be so good, and I am really happy they are coming to Christchurch too.

Na that's fine, was just a bit of a downer and knocked me off my happy buzz thinking about some of those bad old days...

But anyway it was a great opportunity to get the message out there that people should enjoy the shows and not be concerned about any possible aggro idiots ruining their night out. Maybe I should put 'no stink cunts' or 'fuckwit free zone' on the poster? haha

This tour is huge for me as Subhumans have been one of the most influential bands in my life and I'm gonna pull out all the stops to make sure this is one of the best tours I've ever done and that everyone has a bloody great night!
