Can you not use that term?

'cunts from va intanet' will suffice.

CALH never releases the lineup so you dont really know when bands are playing, or who is playing for the most part, until you get there. Its more indie that way.

If indie kids end up getting into metal cause of Gaywyre I'll be dark as.
Even if they do it in that faux ironic way theyre known for.

Yeah ditto. Either that or I'm going to sneak the FUCK in. Is Gaywyre the coolest band in the indie scene at the moment?

Theyre post-ironic, so clearly the answer is yes.

Do the bands have to pay to get in still?

All bands are being paid this year in fact, or so I hear. Pretty sure the sort of 'headlining' acts coming from Aus and the US and stuff are being paid a proper festival fee. In fact I don't think many bands that were asked to play had to pay in the past? I only know of a few I think

And yeah, aren't Gaywyre meant to be kind of ironic and funny? I know that those guys actually like the genre, but surely it's a little bit tongue in cheek?

Oh, I got the wrong impression, didn't mean to be rude or anything, I think heaps of really good things can come out of things that start as a bit of a laugh.

i don't book ironic bands. I don't like ironic music, or enjoy music in an ironic context. never have.

i enjoy referential music, but it has nothing to do with irony.

bands don't pay to get in unless they are playing "renegade" shows.

So bands that sound like other bands. Jesus christ.

I would never call gaywyre ironic, id call them a genuine heavy metal band. The only people who would think they are ironic are hipster types, who think being ironic is a good thing. Referential seems like one of those made up terms people use to try and sound cool, but dont.

Jeff, better start using the term to describe d beat, they all seem pretty referential to the point of identicality (is that word hip enough? I hope so).
