Aussie pub rock appreciation thread

Postby dustbinflowers » Sat Jun 09, 2018 8:27 pm

As Dave suggested, here is a thread about Australian pub rock. Which is a pretty broad definition, but that's ok.

To start it off here is Hoodoo Gurus 'My Gir'l

Not so keen on parts 2 & 3 but this has a killer riff.

Might as well dump a few favourite aus songs.

Renee is a tough old bird. She reportedly proposed the name "Three Dicks and a Cunt" for a band with 3 other musos.

Precursor to the Celibate Rifles.

Well this is just gold. Bogan perfection.

Cosmic psychos have been around a long time. I've seen them live twice and both times it was a loose night. I was going to post She's a lost cause, but here is a recent one.

Trust a Maori boy from the King Country to be one of the best singers in Oz rock, and virtually unknown....

Sunrize band has been going continuously since the 60s, with various members from Maningrida. Every live gig of theirs I ever went to was awesome, they crank live, and the guitarist is the Jimi Hendrix of Yolngu people. In the early 90s when I was about their style was a mix of hard blues rock with rapping in English, Yolngu and pidgeon.

Had a moment flicking through the stations as I drove around the country where I realised Gang of Youths are a shitty christian version of Noiseworks.
