New shit from New Zealand

Postby the croc » Fri Jun 23, 2017 9:04 pm

I'm seriously out of the loop with new bands so who are locals that are either playing live shows at the moment or have released stuff online recently?

Currently playing:

Master Blaster https://masterblaster.bandcamp.com/
Wave Pig https://wavepig.bandcamp.com/
Gripper https://gripperpunk.bandcamp.com/
Gravemind https://gravemind.bandcamp.com/
No Class https://noclassoz.bandcamp.com/ (I'm still counting it haha)
Dimestore Skanks https://dimestoreskanks1.bandcamp.com/
Starving Millions https://starvingmillions.bandcamp.com/
Unsanitary Napkin https://unsanitarynapkin.bandcamp.com/

What else?

Me, Bosun and Pete from starving millions/dimestore have a hc band called stress ghetto, we've been playin together since November or so. Fuckin fast as mostly, kinda slow occasionally, real obvious influences

James quick, Chris hardy bones and some skater dude are Total Ruin on a super repetitive primitive black metal/punk thing pretty cool actually

Liz, bonnie, tania j and kitt are Ayn Randy they're on a jangly punk buzz pretty cool played with us a bunch of times I think

Hairbrains is liz kitt selina and jessy mac, could call it hardcore at a stretch, pretty aggressive shit cool live steez

Vanya, sarsha, Anna and Jerry are in a stoner band called Tux they played a house show a while ago

Bosun, vanya and mucky are playing together in some sort of hc arrangement on a Stupids vibe don't think they have a name yet

Thurston, Matt and a few other cunts Otavio and Connor I think are doing some straightforward noisy japanese dbeat shit. Again early jam stage so no name

Ciaran and Jamie are doing some crust shit they asked me to do vocals but I don't really have time. Sounds promising though will be mean when it's good to go

Caan's Toll is nick oakes, james murray, few other cunts from on here years ago heaps of old men playing sludge I think, at the very least it will be slow as but should be tight they've been playing together since nick and I were in ripfacer and that feels like fuckin ages ago

Not exactly new but downer buzz is me Thurston john dimery and rupert from unsani nap playin some blown out punk shit we played our first show in over a year a month or so a go so I guess you can count us

Well that's Wellington I've probably forgotten a couple but good enough for now. Hear fuck all out of anywhere else but I'm pretty out of the loop

Hellebores from palmy fuckin rule but I guess I'm pretty biased. Actually nah I don't even really like turbonegro and I dig them so fuck it.

That was more informative than Sams Always never Funs scene report. Well done mitch. Start a zine or a blog "Bitchin Mitches Blab blog" is a potential name

A few bands I dug seeing recently:
Tigers of the Sea
Psykick Witch
Wu Kong the Monkey King (Auckland band but they recorded while on tour in China)

Enjoying the new one from The Stungrenades

Also members of Markdown seem to have 2-3 other bands on the go up here, eg. Blamethrower w/ Luke of Master Blaster.

I'm playing in a new power trio with Ciara called Dateless.

Everything else is irrelevant.
